This toy is not fun at all. My 6 year old saw it on tv, wanted it, and received it as a gift for her birthday. Here are the problems: it's tricky to put together; the dogs don't automatically swim when they fall off the platform you have to flip their tails, so the point of them diving in is totally lost; the pool is way too short so they barely get going before the race is over; you have to have the perfect amount of water in the tub for them to swim. Those are just some examples. The whole thing is too fussy and not worth it at all.

I would not recommend this playset if your child wants to do more than just play with the Barbie. The dogs are difficult to wind up, difficult to set off and not well-balanced, so they do not 'swim' well. My grandchild and I were very frustrated with trying to get the dogs ready to race and then when we were able to get them wound up, it was virtually impossible to get them to 'release' at the same time.

My daughter wanted this for her birthday. They love to play with toys in the tub (and out) so I thought this would be a good addition. The product is a bit smaller than I expectfthe swimming pool is maybe 6 inches long. Of course she tore the box open so I don't know what of any instructions were included. They began playing with it immediately which I did not witness. However, when I went in to watch them it seemed a bit frustrating. It is all quite cheaply made (anymore, isn't everything??). The pups seem a bit fragile although none have broke yet to my knowledge. But it is a little tricky getting the mechanisms to workyou wind the tail like a traditional wind up toy. There seems to be a miniscule "catch" to hold the wind until you are ready. But there is no auto release to set both pups swimming at once. I am not sure if or how this toy could be played with by only one child. Finally, from my youngest child's whinesit seems that one pup always wins (which she of course never gets). Again I don't know how true that is, since I can't test the racing part myself (the diving board doesn't release the tail-catchand I guess maybe my fingers are too big to have one hand release each tail without holding each pup in my hand; the wind goes to fast to let them release one after the other). Anyway, I don't actually think the swimming part works too welleverytime I set a pup loose it seems to mostly just sink. But they still play with the pups in the bath tub. The pool and doll have been relegated by the kids for other things.

My 10 year old granddaughter liked this toy. The only thing she had trouble with was winding up the dogs ears to make them swim, then you had to raise the tail to make them go at the same time. They did not swim as well as she thought they would.
