This is a collectible doll, so it probably shouldn't even be included in the "toys" section. But Amazon doesn't have a specific catagory of "collectible dolls" so it ends up with other toys. Do not buy this for a young child! This is a doll intended, basically, for display. If you just have to get it for a child, keep it put up until that child is old enough to take care of it gently. That said, this is a beautiful little African-American, award-winning doll created by Master Doll Artist Waltraud Hanl. I have this doll (not bought on Amazon) and she is perfectly gorgeous. She has the So Truly Real "skin" that Ashton Drake uses on many of their better dolls. She's cuddly and looks good in lots of outfits, but will not enjoy (or survive, probably) being dragged around by the hair, etc.

Okay, I ordered this for my 3 month old daughter. It arrived in 2 days (a very timely manner!) which I was excited about!! But...when I opened it, I could immediately tell it was not new, as the tag on the giraffe's bottom was cut off!? :/ Other than that, it's REALLY cute, so I am keeping it. Just threw it in the washing machine on delicates and it's drying now...hope it'll hold up. I was expecting it to be in a littler box, all wrapped up or something, but it came in a plastic/taped bag. Obviously not new, but that's ok! I still think it's adorable. I am awaiting to hear back from the seller, to confirm new or not. Thank you.

We purchased this for our daugher (3 1/2) for Christmas because she loves princesses and we wanted a castle and not a dollhouse. We loved how easy it was to assemble less than 1/2 and hour! We also loved that it was so open which allowed her easy access to play with it and move people around. One unexpected nice quality is that the pieces store nicely in the top two sections where the flags go. The swivel base makes it easy for her to play with it any which way, and she likes that she can sit in the corner and turn the castle around and her brother doesn't bother her. It is beautifully constructed and painted the figurines and furniture are very nice! We originally didn't receive the furnture but once manufacturer was contacted they sent out right away.

We were disappointed that the measurements for the size of the castle. That quotes given on the "bio" for the product are not accurate at all! We measured from the tips of the flag to the base of the playset and they were almost a foot less than quoted, the length and width were also off so much that we called the company thinking we had received the wrong castle! We also thought we had maybe received the wrong castle because in one of the pictures it shows what looks like a three level castle two stairways and a bedroom set in the top level the castle does not come with two stairways or a bedroom set. Our daughter obviously doesn't care about this but for the price we were disappointed about it.

I purchased this on cyber Monday through Amazon from Wayfair. It was around $135. I'd seen this item in an expensive toy catalog and then watched the videos on You Tube of the super easy assembly. It is amazingly easy to assemble. No screw driver needed and i liked that it could easily be stored flat. The design is amazing, but the execution is lacking. If they let the paint dry before boxing it up, that probably would have helped the appearance in several places. The drawbridge does not work. There is a hole for the rope to hold it open, but the rope is in another spotglued. There is a magnet to keep it shut, but it does not work. I received the set with out furniture. That in and of itself would be worth about $25 per room. And since this was commented on 2 years ago, i would think the problem would have been corrected. The wood block people are cute, but only painted on one side. And the princess's cheeks are only rosey on one cheek (needs more paint). The stairs are pretty scuffed up too, although i do think it was packed well. I do not think what i received is worth more than $60.00. I should have gone with Fisher-price. At least you know what you're getting.

UPDATE:

Customer Service at Wayfair is extremely accommodating. They would send me a replacement, but not until after Christmas. Instead I will sadly be returning the castle at their expense.

First of all, my daughter already had two doll strollers before I bought this one. The first one was a piece of junk and literally just had fabric on the seat which would often fall and in that case, it was a stroller without a seat. The second one was better (I think it came with the Graco set), but I wanted to get my daughter a nicer and more realistic stroller. I was between this one and Chicco single doll stroller. I think I was ultimately swayed to this one becaus it was a double doll stroller and, therefore, a different feature than the Chicco versus the current stroller we had. I sort of regret it though. First of all, this one has a similar issue to the piece of junk I referred to earlier in that the seats are just a piece of fabric slipped over a wire frame and the fabric does come loose from the frame something. Even when it says put the seats really have no definition. The other thing I don't like is that the wheels don't pivot, which the Chicco does. Now many doll stroller don't have wheels that pivot, but particularly when it is large as this one is I think that becomes more necessary. To have such a large stroller than can only can front and back, I think this doll stroller only becomes useful outdoors or in large open spaces. It's okay but I didn' love it and wish I bought the Chicco stroller instead.

Without hesitation I can say this is the best play stroller we have ever owned. With two girls aged 9 and 3, we have gone through our share of strollers for a real good frame of reference (to compare). This stroller assembles easily, all components are of great quality, and it feels and operates like a real stroller, just on a smaller scale. Our 3 year old loves it because it looks and feels like a real stroller and she can get her two baby dolls in at the same time.

I would definately recommend this stroller as a STRONG BUY. Just watch the price. Over the Christmas season the price varied by as much as $30.00. Also, if you purchase from Target, beware of their shipping costs.

This is an adorable Lalaloopsy outfit, however not very functional. The floaties are really difficult for my almost-5-year-old to get over Lalaloopsy's hands, and the shoes are a pain too. She finally just took the ribbons off of the shoes altogether. This outfit in particular has been an exercise in frustration for my daughter, and I would not recommend buying it for little ones, who might not have the small motor skills to get it on the doll. Also lots of ribbons to tie (one on each shoe and one around the neck of the swimsuit. Many children under the age of 5/6 don't know how to tie bows yet. (Of course I am available to assist, but she would prefer to be able to do it all herself.)

This is not a very good outfit for the Lalaloopsy doll. The shoes won't stay on, not easy for my 6 year old to put the shoes on and lace them up the leg. Also, the arm floaties are very hard to get on also. The swimsuit ties at the back and the tie is very small, not easy for a child to tie either. Would not recommend this particular item unless you want to be helping to change the clothes all the time with your child.

My daughter love Lalaloopsy, so we were pleased to find this outfit for her dolls. It's not at all what I expected. the swimsuit and shoes have very small ribbons that have to be tied. Since Lalaloopsy is something for younger girls, I can't imagine why they would make it so complicated. The floaties are really hard to put on. Also, the crotch area of the swimsuit is very thin and shifts quite a bit, so my daughter's Lala always has a wedgie. I plan on hiding this outfit in the closed with the play-doh until my daughter is older.

Easy to assemble. I was amazed at how sturdy & solid this dollhouse is. The quality is excellent and it is very large. I got it on Amazon during some crazy sale for $22 and expected to get what I paid for: a so-so but serviceable toy. I wasn't even expecting the greatest quality for what I paid, even though it was Brio. Was I wrong. The wood is SOLID hardwood, not the thin, easily breakable wood stuff of my son's Ryan's Room Firehouse.

Given the price, I bought two and painted the triangle & rectangle front pieces pink & white for my daughter and red and blue for my son and left the rest natural. They look fantastic.

It is the perfect first dollhouse for a young child/toddler. We will invest in a "fancier," prettier one for my daughter when she is older, but it doesn't get any more perfect than this for a 3-year old. My son loves that he has a "clubhouse" for the guys (Spidey, SuperDude, his Ninja Turtles). It has even spent some time being the Bat Cave, an army barracks, an animal rescue center and a Dino-Safari headquarters.

I can't even imagine how enormous it will be when we add the basement. Best toy I have purchased for a toddler overall.

I bought this for my 4 and 2 year old daughters for Christmas. I was very happy with how easy it was to assemble and how sturdy it is. I bought this because it looked like it wouldn't break the first time they played with it, and I'm pleased that it is up to my expectations. Our 2 1/2 yr old daughter loves this dollhouse! We bought it because it's the perfect combination of simplicity in its form, quality and detail. The craftmanship of the dollhouse is solid and well made, with two sliding windows on the front and a great balcony! The quality of the furniture is second to none -excellent craftsmanship/attention to detail and the Plan Toys family is poseable so you can bend them into whatever position needed (sitting, standing, lying down, etc.) The one gripe is that the dollhouse and the basement don't lock together -the house slides off a bit (maybe an 1") from the base when you move it (though not completely because it's partially locked). It's not the end of the world though, if it really bothers me, I'll glue them together.

It's a dollhouse that she can grow with and I guess we'll eventually replace when she's 8 or 9 with something more complex/detailed. We bought it through Imagine the Challenge, a merchant partner of Amazon, and they had a great deal on the house, the basement and all the furniture. Also, it was easy to assemble -took this non-mechanically-inclined Dad about 1/2 hour to put it all together.

My parents bought this for our daughter's 3rd birthday. I really wish I would have chipped in and just gotten one of the more expensive models of Plan Toy dollhouse.

The problem: The design makes it too closed off and dark, because it is so deep. It is really hard to get to from the front, you have to play with it from the sides. The bottom floor is dark in real life, unlike the professionally lit photo. You have to put this in the center of the room or think about the lighting and who wants to worry about lighting for a toy?

My daughter loved it at first, and played quite a bit, but she doesn't have any furniture on the bottom floor, and she as often as not is playing with the people, not necessarily the house. Now that we've had it a month, she doesn't play with it that often.

What's good about it:

It is a good size, not too big, not too small.

It is sturdy and well-made.

Like all Plan Toys, you don't have to worry about toxic chemicals.

It was easy enough to put together.

When she was given the toy, her cousins were there 2yo girl, 4yo boy & 6yo boy. All four children immediately started playing with it.

But it worked because we were outside, and it was on a table so they could descend from all sides. The eldest noticed the lack of stairs as another reviewer mentioned. I have a feeling we'll have to buy a different model in a couple of years as she gets bigger, so that's why I wish I spent more now and had something we could use for years and years.

This dollhouse is very good for the younger ages. It is big and simple and easy to access. I have several toys from Plan Toys and all of them are made well and look nice. My son is 2.5 and enjoys this house. BUT, there is one thing that bothers me and you may want to reconsider this model once you know. There are no stairs in this house. Littler kids don't notice, but older kids will. When they are trying to mimic real life and enjoy how realistic everything is, it is not going to make sense that there is no way up/down to each floor.

I'm OK with Barbie, I really am. But she can be sort of one dimensional. And Bratz have always been banned from our home, that is definitely not going to change. So I was very pleased when I came across these dolls a few weeks ago while shopping for my 8 year old daughter. They're cute without being boring, they're clothes are more like those I'd allow my own daughter to actually wear and they're hip enough for my daughter to be interested in them.

I like the accessories that can be purchase to play with these dolls because they are creative (allowing your child to color, wipe off and recolor them) so I feel like I'm getting a good bargain for my money. They're as well made as a Barbie doll too, so if you're child takes care of them, who knows, maybe someday (a LONG LONG time from now), your grandchildren will love them too.

My 3 & 5 year old recieved the dolls as birthday gifts. Shoes are missing so now we have to look at the dolls peg legs. I looked online and in stores and extra clothing and shoes for the dolls are not available. Also, the clothes do not come on/off easily. A pair of stockings tore when I was trying to swith the dolls clothes. I recomend sticking with Barbies for younger children or for children who are getting their first dress-up dolls. These dolls are not very sturdy. THEY ARE CUTE and I do recomend them for older girls BUT NOT TO PLAY DRESS-UP.

I purchased a Liv and a Moxie for my daughter for christmas. I thought we could evaluate which one was the better product for future purchases. The Moxie feet do not stay on during play, The hair is poor quality and frizzed immediatly, the wigs dont stay on because the original hair is not removeable. The moxie is just short of a Bratz doll when it comes to style. I just tried to set up the online access and the website is impossible to use, and that sent me over the edge!! Ok, I had to comment on this doll. I definitely love it, very realistic and is anatomically correct. I was kind of concerned about one of the posts saying that you couldn't move his limps and I almost didn't buy it. But now that I have it, you can actually move the legs and arms (right on the crease), you CAN'T straighten his legs and arms (which I supposed that when I saw the pic), but you CAN move his extremities to change the doll's position. I am okay with that. I just didn't want to buy a doll that the girls couldn't move at all.

Also, I was concerned about the "smell"... many posters were complaining about the lavender Scent, well, I have to clarify it is not that bad. It is just very slightly scent that it will go away and if it doesn't, it is really very slightly smell.

Size: Perfect for 2 5 year old. I have 2 girls (21 months old and a 4 year old) and the doll is the right size for them.

Good buy for the price. Also Shipping and handling was SUPER FAST & FREE. Very pleased.

Now that I have made sure it is a good buy, I will order the second one for my other girl: .. that way they look different and two boys.

(TWIN) GIRL and BOY BABY DOLLS

Last week, after much frustration, I purchased a $52 Hasbro Baby Alive Wets & Wiggles Boy Doll, together with a $28.50 Hasbro Baby Alive Wets 'N Wiggles Doll (girl doll), for my grandson. In twelve days or so, his mommy, now "great with children," and his daddy, will bring home boy and girl twins from the hospital.

Why would the boy baby doll from Hasbro cost twice as much as the girl? I looked all over to find more equivalent and cheaper prices. I did not see this pair of Berenguer dolls, or I would have gotten them, at matched prices, looking *very* much like newborns, and costing $25 less, combined. True, they don't wet or wiggle or coo -my daughter tells me that they are not activating all that stuff on the Hasbro dolls anyway. As to other stores online having twins, or one each at the same price, I could not find any, except for African American twins, carried by a couple of stores. Otherwise, they were out of stock of twin Wets & Wiggles dolls. Enough of my frustration. Here's a review of twin baby dolls that are anatomically correct.

Why anatomically correct, you ask? My reasoning is that my grandson is going to be watching eagle-eyed as his daddy and his mommy take care of their newborn twins. He's going to want to know why the girl is not like the boy, and why the boy is like him, and so forth. Wouldn't it confuse things further if his supposedly boy doll is not like him or like his new brother? Wouldn't it help to recognize the ok differences in girl babies if his girl twin doll is like his new sister? So I figured. It may go differently in other families.

Since I live at a distance, and would not be presenting these dolls to my grandson at the same time, they had to come in one package. Perhaps the (real) babies won't come home from the hospital together, but still the effect on my grandson would not be the same if first one of *his* came and then the other. Adding to the cost was that Amazon Prime shipping was possible with the boy doll, but not with the girl doll, and only one supplier, All4mygirls, had both dolls in stock, would ship "expedited" and did so, on a Saturday. No, nobody else in the first 30 listings on Google had both boy and girl dolls together. So there was additional shipping charge.

I wanted anatomically correct dolls, and these Berenguer dolls fill the bill, cost a lot less than I paid for the Hasbro dolls, can be dressed from the smallest baby things around as hand-me-downs, or in preemie clothes. With the Wets & Wiggles dolls, there's the added expense of landfill with plastic diapers, if the added realism is desired.

My grandson is thrilled to have his own babies; he's been talking about "when the babies come out of Mommy's tummy" for three months, now. Sometimes we don't explain everything to him, or the idea that the babies won't be ready to play doesn't register.

Thinking about toddler / kindergarten boys, they are more likely to get exposed to playing with dolls at pre-school or in kindergarten. My son-in-law is equally involved in child and baby care, so he's a role model, and baby care is not something only for Mommies (as Mattel has in its "Little Mommies" line, which has some cheaper twins. Grandson is doing what Daddy does, and what Mommy does. Very natural to him.

Since he's all boy, loves trucks, loves to kick around a soccer ball, and is very physically active, the case for him also playing with newborn dolls goes to future possibilities as NICU doctor or pediatrician or ob/gyn delivering babies. Or focusing on baby care in some other health care profession. Or sharing in taking care of his own babies someday.

My hat's off to Berenguer for its presentation of these 14" dolls. It's not hard to find out that they are anatomically correct. I wish, for example, that the cheaper Mattel "Little Mommies" line would expressly say that their boy-girl twins are just clothed in pink and blue -as I suspect from the name of the product line!

Note that you can also get smaller, 9.5 inch baby dolls in boy and girl anatomies from Berenguer BOY http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Newborn-Blanket-Caucasian-Berenguer/dp/B001ETYEC6/ref=pd_sbs_t_4 and GIRL http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Newborn-Blanket-Caucasian-Berenguer/dp/B001ETYE8A/ref=pd_sbs_t_2. The mini dolls. as well as the larger newborn dolls above, are scented; maybe that's okay, maybe not. It would be cheaper still, and easier for a smaller toddler to carry and play with. (My grandson is 3 3/4 years old.) With these mini-dolls, the Amazon website does not specify whether they are anatomically correct or neutered. If it matters, call to find out what is being shipped.

Some research on the web at pattycakedoll.com and elsewhere indicates that a variety of ethnicities for these 9.5" mini dolls is available -African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian. Also there's the possibility that you can get either anatomically correct, or (dare I say it) incorrect, dolls in this size.

And the next question IS: What does my grandson name his baby dolls.

Purchased this toy on sale at Amazon for a Christmas gift for my seven year old daughter. She has played with it at least weekly since opening the gift.

Most of her creativity has been expressed through drawing/painting and clay/playdough. This set adds something in the third dimension that she really enjoys. She has enjoyed the tangible and textural play with fabric, form and design.

Since doesn't have numerous dress forms, she will often build a design and take a digital picture against a backdrop before dismantling and doing another.

This set came with a bag and bracelet...which aren't worth much...but she has used anyway.

We have since supplied our daughter with additional fabrics and another set.

I love love love this product! My six year old and ten year old each got one for Christmas and played with them all day and are still playing with them all the time. DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SEWING to make hundreds of different dresses. Ingenious idea! You can use everything over and over. We have also cut scrap fabric of my own for them to use.

I bought a Star Doll for a relatives child. The doll doesn't sit or bend and is bigger that the other Barbie dolls. I think you should want your child to use her imagination. Not to have it sit on the computer desk while she plays oline. You have to pay to play online. I have seen the star doll cards in various stores. For these reasons and more I returned the toy.

For the price ,the quality it real good.

Her outfit is awesome. She has real eyelashes. Great painting on face.

Her legs do not move at all anywhere, not at waist either. But if your an adult collector and just want to dress her and stand her somewhere it's fine.

She does have the front of her hair pulled to the side and pony tailed to each side and looks a little sideburnish.

Wouldn't mind getting more from this collection.

This doll's face and hair are gorgeous, but I was very disappointed that the legs don't even bend at the hip. She can only stand with the aid of her stand. At least her arms rotate, but I will not buy from this line again, unfortunately.

Too bad this doll does not bend at the arms, knees or waist. It is beautiful, and even has eyelashes. It comes with a clear stand. I just couldn't imagine that it wouldn't bend once it arrived. Very disappointed because it was a Christmas Gift, and I wanted the recipient to be able to play with it just as she had her other Barbies.
