Best Calico Critters Luxury Townhome Deals

Customer Ratings:

My 4-year-old daughter received the Luxury Townhouse for Christmas 2010. She plays with it nearly everyday, interacting with the animal families, making them "talk", cook, sleep, bathe, etc. Like with all toys, she has had to learn to take care of her dollhouse and the accompanying furniture and "residents". Nothing on the dollhouse has broken. The lights are a really fun touch, especially when she can see them light up the house at nighttime. They do require frequent battery changes, but we invested in rechargeable batteries and that has helped to ease the cost of buying new ones. This dollhouse is a perfect size for younger children. It's made entirely of molded plastic, plus opens and closes easily. The "mobile" staircase and patio are a nice touch, too, allowing children to decorate their house as they wish. If you're looking for a dollhouse that's durable and not huge, this is a great one to consider.

I loved Sylvanian Families when I was a child, and loved the Calico Critters when I saw them, but was deterred by the price and large number of small parts. I finally happened upon the townhouse at a steal and bought it, plus a ton of animals and furniture for my 3-year-old son. He saw the dollhouse on Christmas morning and spent a solid ten minutes walking circles around it saying, "look, look, the doors open!" and "that's the chimney that Santa goes down!" He loves tucking the babies into their crib, brushing the hedgehogs' "hair," undressing everyone, and bringing in his model dragons to knock on the door and cause all kinds of cuddly critter evacuations. He loved the little tea tins and present boxes, and was ecstatic that he could turn the lights on.

The tiny parts requiring assembly in the deluxe furniture sets came with virtually no instructions, which was annoying, but I figured it out, and the only room big enough for the deluxe bathroom was the room the front door opens into, but my 3-year-old couldn't care less about visitors passing the "potty" on their way in. The room divider was pointless, since it either blocks the ability to play in that part of the house, or closes off a room that is almost too small to use. We stuck the fireplace in there and called it a day.

All in all, it's a great toy: my son loves it, I think it's too cute for words, and we have fun playing with it together. My chief complaint is that when we put the kitchen set, bathroom set, and living room set (which took the entire top floor) in it, there was no room for the bedroom stuff. Fortunately, we had an empty nursery school to throw the babies into and they don't seem to mind living alone. ;) If I had it to do over, I might have opted for one of the bigger housesthis one takes up my whole coffee table when it's open, anywaybut other than that it turned out to be a great gift.

Lovely pictures of happy critters sitting at furniture and playing. But NOWHERE on the box does it warn "figures and furniture not included". The box leads you to believe that there's much more than the shell of the house.

Shame on Calico Critters!

If there had been a warning I'd have still bought it, and would have bought some figures and stuff at the sometime, so the big birthday surprise wasn't a disappointment. Now we've got to go out and get the stuff. Try explaining "we'll have to wait til tomorrow" to a 2-year old girl... A kind of disappointed little girl.

I hope everyone interested on this reads this and then can decide whether to go ahead (and probably spend the same amount on top of this) and get the rest of the necessary pieces.

Honest reviews on Calico Critters Luxury Townhome

I was extremely unhappy with it because when my grandaughter began to play with it there was nothing but the basic house for $85--no people, no furniture, nothing. Perhaps I should have read more carefully but when something is pictured with furniture, animals, etc. and there's nothing in the box but the basic house, it reeks of false advertising. It cost me an additional $124 at Toys R Us to furnish HALF of it for her. I'm thoroughly disgusted. Even the clerk at Toys R Us thought it seemed like false advertising. I'd seen it on display there with all of the animals, etc., but they were out of it, so I got it through you. Either way, I'm most unahppy.

My daughter loves this Critter house. She adores small things and can spend hours using her imagination to fill the house with love and laughter. This lights are a bonus as well as all the "cool" little things that you can get to fill it up. Sure wish I had an unlimited budget to get her all the neat things-at once! Fun, playful house for my daughter to create her critter family.

Great baby doll! I considered getting the Bitty Baby, but I read somewhere that these were softer bodied, which I liked. I also looked into clothing, this doll is a little more expensive but the clothing is cheaper. I also read that it can wear standard preemie clothing. I didn't like the head/hair of the Bitty Baby, especially the brunette like I wanted. This one had brown eyes, which was hard to find also... but she is worth it! What a precious! The smell of the doll is absolutely intoxicating! It is vanilla, like the dolls I had as a child. Wonderful! Corolle will be getting more money from me! PS... The outfits are pretty cute, I got three of them with the doll... BUT.. beware to buy too many until you know your little one will use them.. My girl likes to keep the doll unclothed all the time! Drives me bonkers. Also, they are a little overpriced, they look thicker, better quality in PICS I think.... If you can find reasonable preemie clothing I would certainly go that money saving route! :) Hope that helps!!

I just received this doll for my child, and I am very pleased with my purchase. When I ordered the doll, I was not sure that it would be a big enough doll for my three-year-old to hold and cuddle, but it turns out that this is the perfect size doll. I can't imagine how unwieldy a bigger doll would be for a three-year-old.

The doll has a soft body and its head, arms, and legs are molded plastic. It's very huggable and durable at the same time. The eyes open and close, which my child finds to be very entertaining, and you can make the doll suck its thumb, a bottle (not included), or a pacifier (included). It can also be placed in a seated position and is scented. I am told that it is a vanilla scent, but there is an underlying spice to it that I can't identify. However, it's not an overwhelming or offensive smell and won't overtake your house.

The only issue I find with the doll is the small doll-sized pacifier included in the box. The Corolle website says that the doll is intended for children two years and up. The pacifier is small enough that it could be considered a choking hazard for a two-year-old child. That being said, the pacifier (on a ribbon) is not attached to the doll, so you could remove it from the box and hold it until your child is old enough.

When all is said and done, I think this is a great doll and well worth the purchase price. I love finding good toys that don't make noise or light up, because I think it helps my child develop an imagination. And there's nothing more classic than a really good baby doll.

Best Deals for Corolle Les Classiques Classic 14" Baby Doll (Suce Pouce Blue)

My two year old son's daycare teacher told me that he was always playing with the dolls at school so I decided to get him a cheap doll at a local discount toyhe loved it but within a month or two, it became nearly headless.. somehow the fabric around the neck ripped. So I came to Amazon and ordered this doll which he loves. It goes everywhere with him and has held up perfectly. He calls it his "Vanilla baby" because of the vanilla scent.

Great quality and like that it has a blue outfit. Our neighbor's son who is five years old and never asked for a doll, always wants to hold this one when he comes over to play so I am ordering one for him.

Do you want your son to grow up to be a nurturing man? Let him play with a doll if he wants to! My five year old son has never been interested in dolls but if they are, they should be encouraged to nurture a baby doll. I have gotten a lot of negative comments when out with my two year old boy and this doll, it breaks my heart.

Honest reviews on Corolle Les Classiques Classic 14" Baby Doll (Suce Pouce Blue)

My 3-year-old has a couple of other dolls, but this is the nicest. I like realistic-looking newborn dolls, but my husband finds them creepy and they often have fixed limbs that make them hard to dress. So for Christmas we settled on this doll, which we agreed was a good balance between realistic and toy-like. It's soft enough to be cuddly and nicely weighted so that it can easily be made to sit up. My daughter loved her pacifier and I intentionally chose a doll with one. I liked that this version had brown, instead of blue, eyes. Although it's dressed in blue, my daughter considers it a girl and it's easy enough to get it some more girly outfits. This doll has been a favorite and accompanies her to bed and on trips.

The Corolle classic doll was just right for our 2-year old granddaughter. After watching her mom tend to her brand-new baby sister for a few weeks, she was delighted to have her own "baby" to care for. The doll is now her constant companion and of course her constant responsibility! It is sturdy but soft in all the right places. She loves it!

My 6 year old daughter saved her money for 1 year for this American Doll Room. She has had the room for almost a week now and has been very happy with her purchase. The room was shipped on Thursday and arrived by that Saturday. The room was packaged well for shipping so there were no bent pieces. The room came with a carpet square and 2 carring bags, one for the room and the other was a duffel for doll and accessories so you could take them on the go. The duffel bags are great quailty and look like they will hold up for years of play. My favorite part of the whole room is that it folds completly flat for easy storage and travel. The room was bigger than I expected. It was tall enough for my daughter's American Doll Felicy 4 poster bed to fit. She likes the wainscoting on the bottom of the walls and the dusty blue, slightly patterned walls. The room has 2 windows with a "view" of a field. The room also came with 2 sets of curtains that attach with velcrow. My dauhter liked that she could reverse the room and turn it into a patio, where she set up her doll to pertend to carve a pumpkin. My daughter has had her dolls for almost 2 years now, and I have always felt that there was something missing when she was playing with them. The room has helped to expand her imagination when she is playing, because it has helped her play with the accesories that she has inside the room. This would be a great purchase for any little girl who loves to play with her dolls

It is about time Mattel started to use there brains and release Barbie as Super-Friends. Just like to old Super-Queens and the Mego dolls, now girls and collectors have something very different to add to there pink boxes. I am glad to add Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Catwoman (not too sure about the Halle version) and now Poison Ivy to my collection. Now if Mattel would expand the set with Vixen, Onyx, Mera, Black Canary, Zatanna, Huntress, Harley Quinn, Cheetah, and Hawkgirl.

Best Deals for Barbie as BatGirl: 11.5" Collectible Doll with Stand and Character

While her intended audience is of course little girls, Barbie as Batgirl will definitely appeal to grown-up collectors. Mattell's new super-heroine threesome (Batgirl, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl) is a 21st Century version of Ideal's old Superqueens mine are going to hang out with the Captain Action reproduction made a few years back, just as their foremothers did. While I don't pretend to know what modern kids like, I would've gone completely nuts for her when I was in single digits and 'Batman' was on prime time twice a week. If your daughter likes the current animated Batman, Superman, and Teen Titans, she'll probably love Bat-Babs.

This is Barbie smooshed with Bruce Timm and Yvonne Craig, the best Batgirl since the 1970s Mego version. She's in bright comic-book colors, with a light coating of metallic confetti on her bodysuit and blazing yellow vinyl accents. The articulation is a bit unusual Gumby arms and legs with a solid torso. Accessories are a Batarang, a plastic dangly lunchbox for your backpack, and a secure stand.

The concept of a lifelike dollhouse was a bit foreign to our toddler, but soon enough, her Fisher-Price Little People moved in; and both big and small versions meshed well with the furniture. Then the Asian family with baby and nursery decided to eat and sleep outdoors. Then the kitchen was converted into a garage with a stop sign to mark the end of the parking spot -which we took to mean that she wanted our car back in the garage as she had often mentioned. Maybe any dollhouse would have done the job of allowing the child to express herself but this one is great because it is open on all sides, and raises discussions about conservation. Although well-designed and built, this toy is probably more appropriate for children who are willing to be gentle with their toys. The quality is absolutely amazing: no loose threads, soft fabrics, no exposed glue, and everything fits together like a beautiful puzzle.

I almost didn't get this dollhouse for my 2.5 year old because there were no reviews on it and I didn't know how much she would like it but I am SO happy that I got in anyway! She LOVES this dollhouse. When she saw this house on Christmas morning all of her other presents didn't exist anymore. She started playing with the house immediately. I did buy one of the Plan Toys family sets to go with it and she loves playing with her "little people" and her dollhouse.

The house itself was really easy to put together and looks great! It's also fun to point out and talk about the solar panel and wind power parts. She enjoys playing with the recycling bins too. It's great that the house comes with furniture but I have to be honest that at my daughters age she doesn't really seem to care about it too much. It mostly just winds up on the floor and she plays with the family in the house without the furniture. One day she will use the furniture so it's nice to have it.

The dollhouse is really well made. I mean, my daughter is tough on toys and this one is taking her beating REALLY well. Nothing broken so far. :)

It's a wonderful looking dollhouse. It's a great size and she will get many years of play out of it. She loves playing with it and it's well made. What more could I ask for?

Best Deals for Plan Toys The Green Dollhouse with Furniture

The dollhouse is everything the description states. It is very cute and my 4 year old daughter loves playing with it. But, it has one major design flaw. The roof sits on top of pegs that come out of the top of the walls. All is well as long as you don't try to move the house or accidentally bump the roof. If this happens, the roof pops off of the pegs and the walls start to come off the base. This causes the sun shade to fall out. A child can't put the roof back on when it falls apart. It takes at least two adult hands to re-align the walls, hold pressure on the sun shade, line the roof pegs up and slide the roof on. I realize that the intention of the design is to not have glue, screws, etc. But, they need to find a way to secure the roof from popping off of the pegs unintentionally.

Honest reviews on Plan Toys The Green Dollhouse with Furniture

We bought this great house for my daughter (3 years old), and the Modern furniture separately. It is really nice.

+ Pluses It is Eco friendly. It is cute. It has some neat functions like the sun shade. The solar panel and wind turbine are good educational tools. It is great to teach household/family responsibility and values. The stair case gives you optional positions to the house and the vegetation on the house coincides with our urban gardening lifestyle. It is simply cute.

Minuses It is slightly difficult to assemble, however if you are an IKEA assembly pro, then this assembly is equivalent. The pieces are not all made to fit as designed, I even received a broken piece, which was disappointing, and when you have a happy child on Christmas its not like you want to say, oh wait we have to send the product back and wait for a new one. The last drawback, , , it has a "L" shape design that is stationary, which makes it hard to use from one sitting position. My daughter's friend has the chalet house which come apart for easy access and playability, but with this design, it is hard to play with, without rotating the entire house.

Overall, , , I would recommend this item, because of all the Eco/Education benefits, its uniqueness, and its simply quiet cute as well!

I had such high hopes for this high chair. Unfortunately, the quality is horrible. The first one received had drips of glue in several places. The wood was also completely unfinished. The worst part were the number of gashes out of the wood. The company we purchased it from was fantastic! They sent us a replacement high chair. The second one had the same problems so we gave up and were quickly refunded our money--with no problems.

Bought this for my daughter's 2nd birthday and assembled that day. Easy assembly, but some of the pieces didn't fit together quite like they should. This piece of furniture is all wood as shown in the picture, and is quite nice. The wood has been sanded, but needs a coat of varnish or some type of sealant to make it smooth. Overall a good quality product for the price. She loves it for her dollies!

Cheap Monster High Create-A-Monster Mummy-Gorgon Girl Starter Set

Customer Ratings:

This CAM set rocks. The design concept is awesome. You get a mummy girl, and a gorgon(snake) girl. I think Mattel has finally started to listen to it's customers, and it shows. In this set you get two complete dolls. Two torsos, two sets of arms, two sets of legs, two outfits, and wait for it.....this pack comes with TWO WIGS!! Finally you can build your dolls without one girl having to go bald. In this set the Gorgon girl wig is made of molded plastic and has snakes protruding out everywhere. I cannot begin to express how cool this is. I am impressed with mummy girls wig also. In the past the CAM wigs have been dissapointing. They come smashed, or you can see the icky plastic liner underneath. This one is very nice. Mine was very smooth and long, completely hid the clear plastic liner, and sat very nicely on mummies head. It is long and straight, mostly purple with a few black streaks, and blunt cut bangs. As for the actual doll, mummy girl has "wraps" actually molded into all the plastic of her body...a very nice detail. She has a very light layer of gold "dust" over her grey mummy body. Her face is very lovely with turquoise eyes that are thickly lined with "kohl" and gold shadow. She has deep red lips. The only thing I noticed is that her head is a slightly different color than her body. Her body is more a blue grey, where her head is a true grey. She wears a pink one shouldered dress with hyroglyphic print. Gorgon girl is my favorite in this set, and quite frankly my favorite CAM doll ever!! Her light green irridescent skin is molded with scales everywhere. Even her face has etched scales and snakelike nose. On her belly and torso, she has wide bands molded into her skin that look just like a real snake. I cannot believe the attention to detail, it is amazing. She has dark coral/orange lips, matching orange eyeshadow, and yellow reptilian eyes. She wears a purple dress with a "scale" print and green trim on the bottom. Like I said above, her wig is molded plastic and features a side ponytail made of snakes. Think Deuces hair but for a girl, and much more detailed. There is only one small complaint that I have with this set. There is no brush, still only one stand, and only one pair of shoes. The shoes are a pair of metallic gold peep toed booties. They seem to go more with mummy girl as they look like "wraps". I just don't understand why Mattel would go so far as to provide two outfits, two wigs, two of everything, and then only one pair of shoes. Just one more little step Mattel, give us two pair of shoes, and make sure every doll has a stand and this would be PERFECT. I would even be okay with them offering stands and shoe packs sold seperately. Still, I am soooooo in love with this set and I would reccommend it to anyone. Now I am on the lookout for the icegirl/blob set...

The Mummy and Gorgon Girls are part of the second wave of Monster High Create-A-Monster Starter Packs. Each pack comes with the parts to make two complete dolls. These dolls are fun to put together and are a great way to add backgrounder characters to a Monster High Collection. This pack comes with one doll stand and one pair of shoes. Both dolls have interchangeable parts (hands, arms, legs, heads, clothing, wigs) and can be used with other Create-A-Monster Starter Packs and Add-On Packs.

The Gorgon Girl

The Gorgon Girl is one of the most detailed CAM figures to date. This girl is light green, with yellow eyes that have slit pupils and coral colored eye makeup and lips. Her face, neck and torso have been sculpted with large scaling and she has small scaling on the rest of her body. The Gorgon comes with a hard plastic green wig that fits snuggly onto her head and is made up of eight coiled serpents. One of the details I love about this girl is her lack of ears, a nod to her snake heritage. Her hands are a slightly softer plastic than her body and are in a loosely cupped pose. The Gorgon comes with a purple mini dress in a snake scale pattern trimmed in green. This girl with her serious facial expression is so creepy cool that I think the pack is worth it just to add her to my collection.

The Mummy Girl

The arms, legs and torso of the Mummy girls have bandage wrapping sculpted into them. There is a small amount of gold coloring swirled into the molded plastic, and I like the effect. This girl has kohl makeup with a little Egyptian art flair, gold eye shadow, crimson lips and bright turquoise eyes. She comes with a pink off the shoulder dress that is printed with tiny hieroglyphic symbols. The one pair of gold high heeled shoes was clearly meant for her and have a bandage motif. The Mummy has a purple and black wig that is a vast improvement over the wigs of the previous CAM sets. This wig fits nicely with no plastic band showing and is very silky.

Additional

The only real complaint I have as far as quality of these dolls is that the elbows on both were extremely stiff, so much that I was very afraid that I might break the joints. My advice is to look on the forearms and see that on one side of the joint there is a small plastic tab and the other side of the joint will be rounded. Bend toward the rounded side away from the tab to loosen the joint. Once I did this the arms loosened up and can now be posed.

I was able to purchase this item at a retail store for $24.99.
