After reading the reviews, I was really curious about how people expected diversity conveyed on a 2.25" doll???

While waiting for Plan Toys to come up with a "truly diverse" (whatever that means) family, I created one myself out of this set and the "Tradesman" set, using permanent markers and some (completely non-toxic) beeswax. This is when the "line" eyes come handy as you can make them any shape you want.

I have to agree that the clothes are a bit "too much" but I modified some of them as well. Now we have a very "diverse" set. Perhaps, Plan Toys should pay me royalties if they read this review and borrow the ideas... :-)

I appreciate that PlanToys offers a wide variety of little people of various ethnicities for use with their wide array of PlayCITY items. This set is very cute (I especially love the girl with the little pigtails!), and while they maybe could have changed up the outfits a little bit, I think they are a fine addition to the other "families" available for play with all the Road & Rail sets. I think we should be careful about assuming that the clothing painted on the little people are a "problem," when, after all, kids are not going to develop a "stereotype" of an ethnic group based on one toy (unless WE emphasize it to them).

In my family, we have several of the "City" people sets, including the Plan Toys City Series Rescue Crew, PLAN Toy City Casual Family of Four and Plan Toys Service Crew, which, by the way, also reflect multiple ethnic groups. All the Plan Toys we have are very well made and able to really take a beating! And the fact that they are made from recycled rubberwood that is organically grown is important to me. So many of the cheaper wooden toys out there manufactured in China it is questionable where they get the wood and whether or not it is being sustainably harvested.

For reference, these "dolls" are about 2.25 inches tall, and made to go with Plan City/Road & Rail items, including those listed below, and not necessarily with the Plan Dollhouse line (though they would work with the dollhouses too). Examples of Plan City items that fit these dolls are:

I don't understand what people are complaining about. This company dressed these dolls in kimono type clothing that is of the Asian culture. What is the problem? If you went to Asia or celebrations in American I am sure you would see Asian people in such clothing! You are looking at a wooden doll with painted on simple features and I find them to be very cute!

My child loves this doll, but the main problem in my opinion is the quality and the length of doll's hair, which are too long, plus quality is not the best one, and obviously that is the main reason why they have changed from sleek ones into tangled ones just in first couple of days, and wings also bunch all the time in dolls hair.

The concert Musa doll is well made for the price the materials of the outfit are decent and she has a lot of pretty hair. Note that these are fine on their own but ideally go as a set of all the girls with the Winx Concert Stage, sold separately. Also note that Tecna and Musa tend to sell out first/fast so I recommend getting those two early if you want the entire set of girls.

Note that unlike the Winx dolls with Believix wings, she doesn't have the articulation in the arms and wrists (just the legs). Instead, her arms are bendable.

For the price, she's a great doll and decently made. But I'd recommend spending a bit more on the Believix Wings versions since they are high quality, have the fancier costumes, better articulation for most poses, and of course the wings.

My daughter wanted all the Winx fairies for Christmas. She already had three, so imagine my surprise to find out it's darn near impossible to find the remaining three in stores.

Why is there only three dolls you can find in almost all stores that come with the wings, Bloom, Stella and Flora. All for about $15.99. But Aisha, Musa, and Tecna cost $30 and I can only find them online?

Growing up in the mid 90's with Sky Dancers, I had high hopes and expectations for this toy for my niece's fifth birthday. Extremely excited, she ran outside and got one good pull on the rip cord before it got hung up and wouldn't pull anymore. Unable to take her disappointment (not to mention my own, having talked up this toy, and having so many fond memories) , I took it back to the store for a replacement, this one too, got only a few semi decent, smooth pulls of the cord which this time would not wind up. Needless to say, we returned it back to the store, and I purchased 2 original Sky Dancers used offline, which still work perfectly, just as I remember.

The Sky Fly Tink is a cute toy and thought it would be really fun for my daughter. The only problem is that the arms are too thin and when she hits the gound they break off. My daughter received one for Christmas and her older brother was playing with it and broke off an arm, so I replaced it for her and within 3 hours of playing with it the arm had broke off again when it hit the ground. Very disappointed.

our daughter has wanted one for some time and finally saved her money to buy it. bought it I took it out of the packaging (which was a ridiculous pain by the way), and from the get go it would not work. You could hear the loose pieces inside of the toy and it does not grab the gear inside to make it turn when you pull the string. Disney should be ashamed of selling this kind of garbage or at least for allowing their name to be put on it. Don't buy this it is like most chinese made products, complete garbage.

My kids (4&6) and their friends all love this toy, and always fight over it! (Girls AND boys!!!).

However, I was just sitting on the floor with my very small four-year-old standing at about my height level, she was about 2 feet away from me, and when I went to pull the string the fairy flew off and the wing Hit my daughter right in the eye! You never know which direction the fairy will go when it launches...

Needless to say, from now on, we will be holding it above eye level when we pull the string, or standing really far away from eachother!

Otherwise an excellent toy.... Invest in more than one so there isn't any fighting! Lol

I listened to all the advice above and ordered the Felicity Doll from American Girl, the total cost was $158.60 including S&H. If I had purchased from Amazon the shipping would be free and I would have saved about $30.00.

There are more dolls available from Amazon.comyou should take a good long look at both sites.

I also think you would be happy spending a few dollars more and purchasing an American Girl doll than the 18" Madam Alexander.

My daughter loves these. I got her one for her fifth birthday, and she wanted another, so she did extra chores for me to buy her a new, different, one. Then, on her sixth birthday, I tried to get her one, but I couldnt find them anywhere, and she was very disappointed, so when I finally found them, 2mos after her birthday, I gave a new, different one to her for her 6+2mos birthday. I dont know why she loves them so much, but she does, and she has three. She says they're fraternal triplets. Besides the Melissa and Doug Brianna doll, I order this one for my three year old grandaughter. This doll is cute but rather small. Since I had to pay shipping, the doll total price of the doll was $18.46. This was way too much for this toy. If it wasn't too much trouble, I would return it to Amazon. The Brianna doll came in its' own box but this doll does not which will make wrapping a problem. Next year I will shop for baby dolls in the store where I know what I am buying and what I am getting for my money.

I bought this Cabbage Patch Doll for my niece and my friend's daughter, who are 2 1/2-3 years old (one was a birthday and the other a Christmas gift), and they loved it. The gender surprise is cute and both girls couldn't wait to open the packaging to find out what they had. Then they spent most of the day putting on and taking off the cute little cabbage leaf it comes wrapped in. I still have my cabbage patch kid from when I was little, it is almost as big as my daughter and it is not easy for her to play with, she has a hard time moving it around. My daughter (16 months old) got this newborn for Christmas, and oh my she barely puts it down. Its the perfect size for her to carry around, pretend to feed, and gives it hugs and kisses, its so cute. The doll comes with a baby bottle, the cute cabbage leaf swaddler and then a little onesie that is either pink or blue and the diaper is either pink or blue depends on if the doll is a boy or girl, also the birth certificate, we ended up with a little boy, but since its a baby doll we are pretending its a girl. She is too little to enjoy the "surprise" factor. So I have purchased some generic clothes for the doll from target and also am making some clothes for it. She enjoys the doll having different clothes, and it can get ready for bed or get dressed for the day just like her.

Now for durability I didn't give it full marks because some of the thread holding the dolls shape has come out, easy fix, but its not holding up to the abuse of a toddler, she also dropped the doll out of her wagon and its scuffed its nose on the pavement. (we usually keep her toys tethered to the belt strap so she can't get excited and throw her toys, and we learned our lesson by not doing so for the doll) The body is also fabric, so the velcro of the outfits that my daughter likes to undue and try to fasten back is catching on the doll's back and is balling up the fabric. The tread is easy to fix, the balling easy to clean up, the nose she will just have to live with a scratched nose. Over all I recommend this product, its great fun. My daughter loves it so much.

This is a cute doll. We actually purchased this to give to our son when his baby sister arrived, so he would have his "own" baby. It worked. He enjoyed feeding it, changing it, and putting its clothes on. He lost interest quickly, but at least it helped ease the transition of a new sibling. He was only 2 at the time.

My Little Pony Pony Friends RC Pony Review

My little girl loves My Little Pony. She was Starsong for Halloween this year. Our house is overrun with pony love. :)

I thought she would love this, but she was initially frustrated because the controller isn't easy to use (even for me at times!). I think they tried to oversimplify it for little ones and ended up cutting both complexity and quality. And, although I knew it wouldn't fly (it has wheels on the bottom to drive like a car), she didn't, so that was confusing and disappointing for her.

So why I am rating it four stars? Well, she got over it. :) She has rejected the controller and just uses the plane and pony for pretend play. So it's a loved toy in our house, worth 4 stars for that.

(You should note, though, that most big box stores have My Little Pony items for waaaaay less than I've ever seen them on Amazon. Feel free to find what you like here, but check the price elsewhere before you buy!)

I've been frustrated for awhile with the rubber pull-on dresses these very beloved princesses came with before changing the dolls is my daughter's favorite part and these plastic clipping ones allow for real independence and got rid of the constant interruption of mommy's chores ;) I hope they come out with versions for all the princesses and banish the rubber dresses to the trash! Now if only they could come up with shoes that stay on these dolls...my little girl would be over the moon!
