The head stays on! Hooray!

This is such a nice little doll! She's dainty, she's articulated (neck, shoulders and hips), she wears a removeable gown, has textured underwear(not painted) and painted-on shoes. Her hair is quite stiffly coiffed at first, but this softens up a bit after several days worth of play, yet still looks curled and like a hair-do, not a mess (not yet, anyhow) even though my 3 yr old daughter has been playing a LOT with this doll, and bringing her everywhere, she peeks out of pockets and sits prettily at the table, next to the flower vase at mealtimes, and has been found sleeping in bed, hidden way under the bedclothes in the mornings.

I really appreciate that the HEAD does NOT come off, unlike the other, smaller dolls that hinge at the waist , those with the rubberized over-skirts, no, those we returned, which was sad, because we had a complete set of tea party friends and we were going to get the mom and dad figures too, but no, their heads popped off so easily.

This doll is about 5 inches tall, and she's lovely. And her head stays on. She's about as big as Barbie's sister Chelsea, but with a larger head and a slimmer body.

Educational? Well, what does that even mean? Your child WILL get an education in fine-motors skill exercises (or you will) in trying to manuever her little dress on and off, or in setting her down carefully to sit and have 'tea', she'll even stand if you're careful enough, and you can use her to 'teach' basic sewing and craftsmanship by making this pretty little doll a bed and linens, more outfits, other furniture...So far we've bought a 1:12 size dollhouse double bed and, under my 3 yr old's supervision, we are turning it into a bed fit for a princess it's been very fun picking through my fabric stash with her for this project...so sure, I think it's been plenty 'educational', so I give it 5 stars across the board.

This doll looked so pretty in the picture, and the other 2 reviews of it were so positive....when we got ours, it looked like she had been played with! The hair was greasy-looking and the right side of her hairdo was messed up, almost as if she had stuck her head out a car window. I didn't bother taking her out of the box, my Sofia-fan-in-residence took one look and said "NO!" ...and put her back into the Amazon box. I did notice that the dress this doll wears is not exactly what Sofia wears -the character's dress has the flower design only around the hem, whereas this doll has it all over the skirt...and the doll's tiara is white, not silver like the character. Don't know if this would deter some kids, I just thought it would bear mentioning, in case your child is detail-oriented.

All the details you can handle:

-Bathing suit and shoes are easy to get on and off. Stay in place well. Heels on shoes are anchors.

-Coverup does not have velcro, only a tie. Material is sheer and delicate, so this is not a plus. Print consists of anchors, stars, and bowls of rice. I'm just tellin' it like I see it.

-Jewelry is snug. Can be removed.

-Drink: Is it a flower or a carnage? Maybe both?

-As a prior reviewer stated, the hat does have clear bands holding it on. However, it also has black, elastic threads in case you do wish to cut the clear bands, or if you do accidently cut the clear bands. This elastic will keep the hat in place.

-My daughter discovered that "Littlest Pet Shop" sunglasses fit on Dracie great.

-I have discovered that the hands are difficult to get back in place once removed. If I had trouble, then a kid will have trouble, and said kid might end up breaking the hand prong. Do not encourage hand removal.

(from 10 year old daughter) Love this doll! She has a cute hairstyle and I love that she comes with a drink. Although, every ten minutes her bathing suit would get caught in her leg sockets. It is a cute suit but they really should have made it like a normal swimsuit, and not make it look like it is from the 1930's. When trying to take off her swimsuit it ripped at the seam. Another strange thing is that in the picture, the doll comes with a pink brush and stand, but my doll came with a teal brush and stand. I guess it was a mistake. I found that it was very hard to get the hand back on after taking it off. Over all, it is a cute, fun doll and I do not regret buying it, but buy a fashion pack for the doll to wear unless you have extra clothes.

Karito Kids Ling From China World Collection Doll/Book Starter Set Review

I am a grown up doll collector. The majority of the dolls I collect are actually dolls that are intended for children's play. I have wanted one of the Karito Kids dolls ever since I first read about them coming out. Both Ling and Lulu were on my list. I received Ling as a gift and she is just beautiful! She is larger than I expected her to be. I thought for some reason she would be more online with a Sasha doll's size or an early Sylvia Natterer doll. But she is a bit bigger. Often when you see a doll in promotional pictures they are done up in a way that never translates well to real life i.e. the doll you get can not possibly measure up to the one you saw in pictures. However, this doll is every bit as a beautiful as her pictures even more so. I have not felt that way since I received my first Annette Himstedt doll in the mail. I recommend these dolls to adult and child collectors alike. They are extremely well made, solid dolls that are very reasonably priced in the world of doll pricing. It can be especially difficult to find good ethnic dolls and Karito Kids have definitely outdone themselves in that arena. I look forward to one day adding Lulu from Kenya to my collection as well.

This doll is the doll that I should have gotten when I was a girl, but alas in the 1950's, all there were available were blond blue eyed Chatty Cathy's and Tiny Tears.

I gave this doll to my niece and it is by far her favorite. She loves it more than the Asian American Girl doll I gave her last year.

You don't have to be a minority to enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of these great dolls.

My daughter got this doll for her 8th birthday. My daughter wanted the asian doll most out of all the others. Ling is very high quality. She looks even nicer then in the picture. Im so glad we got a karito kids, and didn't settle for one of the cheaper dolls that target and walmart sell. A doll is a doll, but we have had cheaper dolls and after a few years the hair gets really ratted, and theres no way to brush it out after that point. I don't think this will be a problem with Ling. She also received the Zoe Karito doll, and is very happy with both of them.

I bought this for my daughters' American Girl doll. It fits perfectly. Beautiful dress. My favorite part was they way the maker packaged the dress. It comes wrapped in tissue paper and then in a really pretty box. She felt really special opening the package. The necklace is a perfect accessory.

I think my daughter will like it from Santa, but I was surprised at what little $27 bought. It actually would have to be from Santa(Not wrapped, and set-up), due to it's clear plastic bag packaging without any labels. The picture looks more appealing than what was delivered. Can't speak for the quality since I haven't set it up yet. This is just my first impression after opening it.

It's very cute, but a bit small for the 18" dolls.

It is also very flimsy. My 10-yr-old daughter broke 2 of the poles the second time she tried to put it up. They are supposed to bend, but you have to be very careful so I recommend not taking it down after you put it up the first time.

It is misleading that it is called American Girl Pink Tent made by American Girl Locker. It is not of the same quality as official "American Girl" products.

If the price were cheaper I wouldn't be as disappointed.

Not worth the money.

This doll is very cute & my daughter loves her... the only problem is that when she actually takes her in the bathtub lots of water gets into the doll... and at first i thought it was ok because i told my daughter the doll had to pee in the potty and started squeezing it out into the potty, but there was just so much water inside, it took a long time to get it all out... so i guess i would say i don't recommend taking this baby in the tub on a regular basis because it's just too much work to get all the water out... i'm sure i will still let my daughter do it occasionally but i don't want the doll to mildew on the inside:( i was thinking that this may be a good doll to take to the beach with us this summer :) overall a cute & fun doll! maybe she's not really meant to go in the tub... ? but she comes with a bath towel and duck?

This is a great product as said before...my only drawback to this is the bottom of it is soooo light that you have to hold her shoulders down with your own legs to brush and decorate her hair. Definitely not like the old one from my time. Everything is of good quality, but again, with the bottom being made of thin plastic, she topples over quite easily!!

This doll head is very cute, with many hair items to play with. The hair twister took some practice, but eventually, my 5 year old figured it out. We were a bit disappointed that the "color changing makeup" did not work. We tried both very hot H2O and very cold and could not produce any change.
