My daughter had asked for "the Barbie Sword Movie" for Christmas, and also received this Barbie to go along with it. Within 10 minutes of removing the Barbie from the box, the sword was broken, because while in the Barbie's hand, the sword was made to hit another Barbie. NO MORE SWORD, and TONS of tears! The next day my daughter returned to playing with the Barbie (for that day it was just too devastating to go near) and having lots of fun with it (the clothes offer lots of different arrangements for different outfits) but the whole premise of her wanting this Barbie was The 3 MusketeersI can't believe Mattel would make such a cheap sword if this is the defining factor of this line of Barbies. My child does not play rough. It really is no different than those novelty drink stirrers. Also, I wish Mattel would quit making Barbies where you can't remove their clothesin this one, the mask/crown is not removable, and must always stay on the Barbie's headwhich prevents hairstyling. Overall my daughter loves this Barbie, but I was shocked by the crappy quality of the accessories.

Without the sword incident, I think this would have been her favorite Barbie. But tears at a Christmas celebration is sad for everyone involvedthe child, the giver, the parents. The cheap sword totally put a damper on this toy's image.

My 3 yr old daughter loves this doll. Unfortunately the sword broke the first day. I agree with the previous poster that it would be nice to have the same weapon that was in the movie. However I love the idea of the crown coming down as a mask and the dress becoming a cape expect the velcro isn't that strong. Fun toy for the price I paid.

I bought one of these barbies for my 6 yr old niece for Christmas and the sword broke with in the first hours of play. If I'm paying premium money ($25) for a barbie, I expect it not to break in the first hour! She felt "left out" because the other 2 girls who had Three Musketeer Barbies couls still play with their swords. She did have fun making the skirt into a cape and having the mask/crown move up and down. I'm very disappointed that such an important part (the sword) to the character is so cheaply made.

It's true the sword breaks very easily, but my 6yr niece put some tape on it and she was fine. The dress does turn into a cap and the mask moves up and down on her face. The dolls costume looks nothing like the DVD character and my niece noticed that right away. This dolls' signature weapon are whips not a sword, but in the end all the musketeers have swords. So if you're buying the doll for a child who is alert and pays attention to detail, be prepared for disappointment. However, most kids don't really care about the details they just like the bright colors and mini features.

Despite being in the more premier line of barbie dolls for little girls (the ones meant for movies), this and the other dolls in this line are surprisingly vanilla. They don't sing or have any other gimmicks. The cape can make a dress and that's about it. The dress itself is rather plain and like the previous movies, the doll looks nothing like the dvd counterpart.

I wish this doll sang like the others that was the real draw for my 6 year old to buy this. Plus, the character in the DVD never even used a sword. It would have been nice if this doll had the same weapon from the movie rather than the generic rapier.

Of note, the sword broke in half on the very first day! Then my daughter didn't want to play with it any more because it was the toy she broke. :(

This doll doesn't "do" anything but I think that's the best part! It's a basic rubber doll with molded hair. The accessories are fun and encourage role play. No batteries needed. And the doll doesn't cry, sing, dance, walk etc. But it does pee after you give her cup of water. We bought the potty and cloth diaper set in Target for $ and an extra outfit with a cloth diaper (Target brand $). They work perfectly and I don't have to worry about extra paper diapers. This doll can also be put in a tub without fear of being ruined. You can get Target brand bath tub with extra accessories for $ or just let your kid take a bath with the doll. Who needs batteries, disposable diapers and fake food products that will mold inside of the "real" baby alive doll (that grosses me out). I think it is a nice basic toy, good quality and durable. You can use regular bandaids on her too when the stickers are all used up. I'm just SUPER ANNOYED that all dolls now come in blond/blue eyed (and speak in English), brunette with brown eyes (speak in Spanish) and African American (speak in English). Really? Not everyone who's not Hispanic is blond and blue eyed. And what about boy dolls? Seriously, we're having a baby boy soon and I can't find any male dolls in stores. That's unexcusable!!! But that's a different story for a different day.

My daughter asked for this for her birthday because we couldn't afford a "real" Baby Alive doll. This one was much cheaper, so she was fine with getting it instead.

Unfortunately, it's not a real Baby Alive doll, which is why it's so much cheaper.

She was extremely disappointed, and she hardly ever played with it again after the first day. She thought this doll was at least going to DO something, but it doesn't. It has a tube that goes through from its mouth to it's bottom so it can "pee" like the dolls that would do this in the 70s, but other than that, it doesn't really have any features to speak of. It's just an ordinary "Betsy Wetsy" type doll with some accessories.

It's ok as far as an average doll goes, but don't buy it because of the "Baby Alive" name, because it's most definitely NOT a Baby Alive.

We got this doll for under , so the value is great for a doll that has accessories and pees. I DO not buy the disposable diapers or the doll juice. That's something that I find silly, because my daughter gets a kick out of the pee that comes out from just water, and we buy cloth doll diapers on Etsy that can just be thrown into the dryer. I bought my daughter a doctor coat and a doctor kit for Christmas, so this doll goes to the pediatrician a lot! :) If buyer's read the descriptions carefully, they will not be disappointed. This doll only comes with 1 diaper, so plan on cloth or plan on buying the refill kits. The manufacturer planned on BANKING on the parents needing more diapers and more doll juice, but you don't have to feed into it. Get cloth and go with water-pee. The stethoscope does not have a battery in it, nor does the doll, so do not plan to hear a heartbeat. However, if you plan to get a supplemental medical kit at some point, get one with a steth that has a heart beat sound. The other accessories in this kit are fantastic. The medicine in the spoon disappears, the aspirator looks like it's taking away mucus, and the thermometer says this baby has a fever. If you run out of bandaids, just use kid ones. Residue can be rubbed off with a wet cloth. If you use your imagination, this doll is exactly what you need without being suckered into buying the extras.

My 3 year old loves this doll. I bought her a pack of Huggies Preemies size disposables and allow her to use only one a day to make the package last. The Baby Alive brand diapers don't work well and are very overpriced. I realize now this isn't environmentally sound so I will be looking for some Preemie sized cloth diapers for the doll. This doll only comes with one diaper so plan on either getting cloth diapers or buying disposables.

My problem with the mess is not the "pee" in the diaper, it's in the process of "feeding" the doll that soaks it's clothing and anything else around or under it. The water dribbles out the mouth and goes all down around the neck and back. I'm surprised no one else has had this problem. After all it is only water so it does dry, but I would recommend against buying the "juice" packets that Baby Alive sells to feed the dolls because they do stain.

The box clearly says "listen to her heartbeating". There is no heartbeat. Either in the doll or in the plastic stethoscope. This is very misleading.

All that being said my daughter loves this doll and hasn't grown tired of her after about 2 weeks. She doesn't do much except pee, keep that in mind, I think she's alright for the 2-5 year age range.

For the Baby Alive name, this is very disappointing. The outside says you can hear the baby's heartbeat.....well now I know why there was quotes around that! You are to use the stethoscope to pretend to hear it. You have to really squeeze the sippy cup to get the doll to take water. My 6 yr old can't squeeze hard enough to get her to drink. I think my daughter will be using this in the tub. It could have been much more! On the positive side, no batteries.

During the week prior to the presidential election my six year old granddaughter held a Barbie election of her own. She has at least forty (or more) Barbie and Barbie type dolls. Four dolls ran for president and VP against one another. At that time she did not have the Barbie I can Be President doll. When I saw it after the actual election and the Barbie election I couldn't wait to give it to her. She loves it!

When my mother recently remarried, I acquired two delightful step-nieces and one of them is at a prime age for enjoying role-playing with Barbies. I recently traveled home and admired her collection and took note of the various sporty Barbies she already had, so I felt like a new variation would be a great addition.

I was pleased to come across a Presidential Barbie to pick up for her for the holidays. I think it is great that young girls can now envision themselves as Presidents while playing with their everyday toys. I salute the White House project and Mattel for making this doll happen this year and for Mattel having put out multiple Presidential Barbies during key election years.

A small complaint is that this Barbie doesn't come with any nifty accessories to help further playtime, but this is also slightly positive as it keeps the price point lower which could put the doll in more girl's hands. One could open the box carefully and mount the graphic of the podium on a small cardboard podium or on a real play-size podium to give the President a place for press conferences.

I also wish that this doll could have had a pantsuit instead of the skirt suits favored more by first ladies. I saw that the 2004 variation of this Barbie took a cue from Hillary Clinton and not Chanel.

This Barbie doll wears a suit made of bright pink material with a red/white/blue trim around the collar. Her arms are articulated but she does come with the very cheap feeling hollow body. Note that she is meant for standing on her own and perhaps striking some poses with her articulated arms. She doesn't redress as easily since the shoes have a special design to keep her stable when standing and are on her feet permanently. Also, you can't separate the pink undertop from the jacket it's attached.

I think this is the fourth or fifth Barbie for president doll. This time, professionally done by an up and coming designer but is surprisingly bland for Barbie lacking the sparkle and interest we usually see in a Barbie.

This Barbie does stand firmly but it only takes a little shake to knock her over, as well. I think she is made more for the shelf than for little girls to play with, though.

While the description in the other review of this product seems mostly accurate, I was very disappointed to see that the inside structure/walls of this case is just a cheap drop-in piece of cardboard. I thought it would be more permanent to make it a playhouse, and all one piece. This is just a carrying case with a piece of cardboard to make it look like a house. I also find it somewhat difficult to zip.

My daughter really wanted this and some mini lalaloopsies for Christmas. For $30 plus on here, there was no way, but I seen it in store for $20 and grabbed it there, however she was with me and no way was she waiting until Christmas once she knew it was in the house! Because one of the dogs had just annihilated her Strawberry Shortcake, I let that be the reason for her to get this early and we tore into it! The security strings are in 3 places, on the outside zipper and one on each side of the cardboard display. You can't get into it until these are cut off, which are super easy but keep it secure until then. Inside is easy to open as well. It includes one mini as shown and two pets, a mini cow and duck. There are two full-size cardboard loopsies shown in the windows which we kept for play for now (this was her first mini-loopsy), so we've been pretend playing with them until x-mas when she gets her other 3! There is also "included furniture", which consisted of a "you put together cardboard bed and table". These are the kind that you pop out from the perforated cardboard sheets, all pre-colored with directions, and fold where told to, that insert and such, and wal-ah! You have a bed! It's just the right size and eh, its underwhelming. It "just" makes it through the holes and the head and foot boards wanna bend and sway and not stay up, but its what you'd really expect from cardboard. No big deal really, I didn't expect much from this and so I wasn't let down, we plan to buy the actual mini-furniture sets in the future. The little table is a bit more stable though I had a harder time with getting the table-top to go on, once I got the X to line up perfectly it went right on though, and it was much more structurally sound. It's really just a matter of time before she loses those, steps on them, or they wind up in the bottom of the toy box or torn though, really, so who are we kidding here, right? So I do not judge on the cardboard furniture, just give the added review because it is in there, and hey, they didn't have to include it, so that they did was a nice little bonus. The case itself is very colorful, nice size to hold lots of mini's and their extras, with nice, strong zippers that meet up wherever. There are windows they can peek out of, and when you unzip they have a beautiful, colorful little home, fully "decorated" lalaloopsy style! This home is tied in from what I can see on both sides pretty sturdily, but could probably also be cut out of one wised to do so, but I don't see why other than if accessories were to get lost, then maybe the need might be there in the future! The inside is made of very heavy duty, laminated, colorful cardboard. High quality stuff. Your little princess will love this! If she's into mini-lalaloopsies, this is the case to get! As my title says, it really works as a storage to hold all the mini-dolls and belongings, a travel case for when they go places and want to take their beloved favorite toys, and a House/playset to pretend play with. You really can't go wrong with it! Except with the price, like I said, I actually found this one cheaper in store, so shop around first. Highly recommended to all!

We love this!! It's wonderful to store lots of mini lalaloopsy dolls and their accessories. It says it only holds a certain number of dolls but believe me it will hold much more and the little playsets as well. The insides are made of cardboard but makes cute backgrounds for different rooms. It has a cardboard bed and stand for the bedroom and they are pretty flimsy but we have the sleepover playset so we use the plastic version. We've carried this everywhere grandparents' homes, church, & vacation. Extremely happy with it! Bought it through Amazon for less than $20 and paid no shipping or tax & received it in 2 days ;)

Sofia the First is one of the most popular shows on Disney Junior. Sofia and her friends Clover, Mia, and her family (Amber and James) learn about being royalty and importance of being kind. We have used several of the Sofia the First story lines as life lessons for our 4 year old daughter.... things like inviting everyone to birthday parties and why it is important to always be kind. Therefore, my wife and I really don't mind our daughter watching Sofia the first (or really... any of the Disney Junior shows like Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Doc McStuffins)

The Mattel line of Sofia the First toys received criticism when they were first released. Fortunately, they have made a number of improvements to many of the toys, and while they are still far from perfect they are now at least *acceptable* in terms of build quality. The Sofia the First Royal Family gift set was improved initially all of the dolls heads popped off very easily. In this updated set (purchased in September 2013) the heads remain firmly attached to the royal family members!

Notes

Comes with Sofia the First, Amber, James, Queen Miranda, and King Roland.

Not sure why they designed it this way, but it is difficult to make King Roland, James, and Amber to stand on their own even on hard surfaces.

Sofia the First and Amber speak when used when used with the base of the Sofia the First Magical Talking Castle. King Roland and James interact with the castle but only play music.... Queen Miranda does not interact with the castle.

As mentioned, Mattel has improved the dolls and the heads no longer pop off.

Final Verdict While the Sofia the First Royal Family has been improved it still could use a better design. I am not sure why Mattel designed the set where it is difficult for most of the family to stand on their own. It would also be nice if all of the members worked with the Sofia the First Magical Talking Castle (instead of just Sofia and Amber)

While the paint and quality of the toys is really good, their heads pop off at the slightest glance(they even fell off in the package). I've read bad reviews on how well they interact with the talking castle, so I have not bought it. Save your money until this set drops in price(maybe around the $10 price point). And buy some glue!

The basic design of the dolls aren't bad, but the actual play value of them is lost in that design. Sofia and Amber's heads are very easy to pop off and while ours haven't popped off several times, it's only been a day. Like other reviews have mentioned, the only doll that can stand on her own is the Queen Mother, while the King and James topple over with the design. The point of this design is that their voices will work on the soundbox of the castle you can also buy...big mistake. If they activate voices at all, it's only Sofia's voice. I paid $24.98 at Wal*Mart on this and it's maybe worth $10 at the absolute most.

My daughter like most little girls just loves Sofia, so I bought the Magical Talking Castle and the Royal Family Figurine Set to go with it. First of all the figures mostly DO NOT WORK with the talking feature of the Magical Castle. Only Sofia, and sometimes Amber and Clover, work at all, and everybody else just speaks as Sofia, which is such a disappointment. It is great that there are figures of Miranda and Roland that are not available in the Disney Store figurine set, and that those figures are nice and large, but as I said before, they do not work with the castle, and they are also difficult to keep standing with the way the feet are made to fit on the talking castle piece that doesn't work anyways (not Miranda, as she has a flat bottom). They would have been better off just making this a more poseable figure set without the non-functioning talking feature even being attempted. PLUS...the heads fall off of the little ones immediately and constantly, and that does not require any kind of vigorous play at all. Personally, I would also like to find a set that includes Bailiwick and Cedric, since I think that they are just as important to the show, but they got left behind, at least for now. It very much seems like these toys got rushed out the door to take advantage of the popularity of the show, because it appears that I did not just get a bad item, since everybody is having the same problems it seems, and I have no idea how this got through any kind of quality control testing at Mattel. I confess that this was all far more disappointing to me than my 5-year old, but still a total letdown compared to expectations. My daughter would still play with the castle and figures, but for the money spent on these items (especially in comparison to some of the other Princess castles available), it was just way too dysfunctional. Ultimately this set was so disappointing that I packed it all back up along with the Magical Castle and returned everything.

Now this doll has some great things about it & some bad.

WHile the design (mermaid tail flips over to surf board) is different from any I have ever seen, it does have one advantage. When you are traveling, it does keep the child from losing pieces in the back seat of the car or in the house. It is a bit odd I will grant you but for us, the kids love it. She is very pretty.

My main complaint about this doll is the same for many of the Mattel dolls put out in the last year or so. The plastic used is a cheaper grade like the cheap Barbie knockoffs in the dollar store. It might not bother me so much if not for the fact they keep increasing the prices of the dolls. If you are going to use a cheaper plastic, dont charge me more for the doll. Because of this cheaper material, I can feel the legs are already begining to break after only a few days of play.

If you can get this doll for cheap it is worth it. I wouldnt pay over $15 for it.

I first met Blaine about five years ago. I was at Cali Beach with my then girlfriend, Barbie. It was a hot day, so i was rubbing sunblock on her back. Suddenly, a shadow was cast over us. It was Blaine. He told me that losers like us weren't allowed on his beach, and that this was his "turf." He then kicked sand into my face. I did what any man would do in that situation, I challenged him to a surf off. "Noon tomorrow," he said as he laughed and ran his hand through his hair.

I didn't sleep a wink that night. All I could think about was how much i wanted to win. Needed to win.

When we arrived at the beach it was packed. But all i could see is Blaine and my board. "Let's end this." I said. He smirked and replied "Ladies first." I grabbed my board and jogged into the ocean. The sound of crashing waves somehow calmed me. I caught my first wave only a few minutes in, but it was nothing special. I needed to wait for the big one if I had any chance of beating him. It took what seemed like forever before it came. I heard it first, like a thunderous fist it slammed into me. It dragged me under the water. I almost drowned. When i awoke I was on the beach again, coughing up water. Blaine was there, laughing, with his arm around my girlfriend. They left together and I haven't seen either one of them since.

Everyday I relive that pain and I wait for my revenge.

I really dont know how the whole soap opera saga is going between Ken and Barbie since I played with them last myself 30 years ago or so, but I bought this guy Blaine for my 3 1/2 year old as a substitute to "Julian" from Princess and the Pauper-I bought both girls for Christmas each an Anneilese and Erika doll and also purchased the wedding clothes for Ken and the Queen and Princess. My 5 year old was given the Ken from Swan Lake (blonde)last year for her birthday-he resembled Julian and both my girls previously had Ken as "King Dominic" but my little one did not have a "Julian" the Swan Lake Blonde Ken was no longer available, so I got her Blaine. He worked out just fine except for the fact that this guy is expressionless-no smile or smirk for Blaine??? At least Ken has a smile on his face-looks like from Blaine's sullen expression that he ate too many of those power bars that he was supplied with in the box.

My daughter asked why her "Julian"(Blaine) did not look like her sisters "Julian"???? I told her, "Julian was tutoring Anneilese all day in the courtyard on a very sunny day and forgot his sunscreen." It didn't fool her-but she is just fine with Blaine.

I think everyone is taking this a little too personal. It's fiction not real life folks so live with it. I have both ken dolls and the first one is boring, bland, and same so. Blaine has more advanced features and is much cooler and cuter than the cheap looking ken doll. Worth the buy, but i would wait till he is on sale.

My 4 year old recieved two Blaine dolls for Christmas and he LOVES them. Of course my 5 year son said "Yuck!". Then was the first one playing with them. My 4 year old thinks the outfits are cool and loves having Blaine "ride the waves". He only wishes there were more clothes for Blaine. Not much out there for clothes for male dolls. He wants to go to the store to get two girls for the boys today! LOL My 5 year old LOVES playing with them but does not want people to see LOL.

It's true that Barbie and Ken were never married, but those correcting others here about Barbie's relationship with Kelly need to open their eyes. Are we so gullible that we're going to believe Barbie that Kelly is her sister?
