This was a Chrismas present when my daughter was 9 to go with her American Girl dolls. She has had endless use from it. She was thrilled to get it on Christmas. We have not seen anything similar out there. Of course the price was half then of what it is now and I am not certain I would put out that much for it, but I am sure she would given the choice! We have not had any issues with breakage, but if your child is of the rough nature, you might. It is all plastic and would not take much abuse. If used correctly it would be fine.

I saved up my money to buy this and let me say it was worth it! First off Spectra is beautiful sporting a purple and gold macaranian themed outfit with light purple makeup on. The accessories that come with this playset are 2 pink fake speakers, 2 gold hook decorations, 2 drippy blue monster drinks, a gold chair, and a computer. It also comes with this cool DJ booth with two turn tables and a bunch of black buttons and there are prongs in the back of the booth to put Spectra in but some people may have trouble putting her in and getting her to stay in. There is also skeleton hands holding the computer up, lots of seating, cool backgrounds, (some of monster dancing and Cleo's oasis) but what made me want to get this was the fact is it can plug in to your mp3 player. (or iPhone or ipad, etc.) When I pluged it in the sound was pretty good and can go pretty loud but I heard some people had some problems but I was satisfied. Great for kids but picky collectors might not be satisfied.

We bought this dollhouse last Christmas for my daughter, who was 2 1/2. She has really enjoyed playing with it this year, and I suspect she'll keep playing with it for many years to come. My son, who is 1, enjoys climbing it (not my favorite use of the dollhouse).

I like that the inside is pretty plain/neutral (too bad the outside isn't also) and that it came with a decent amount of furniture and dolls. My daughter also plays with little princess dolls in it, so don't feel like you're limited to what comes with the set--they will find other things to use in the house--ponies, pom-poms, whatetver.

The top part (the roof) does come off sometimes and I have to pop it back on. If I would get some glue to "reinforce" it then that probably would stop happening. It makes it a bit tricky to move. Also, because of the balconies and steps, it's hard to put the house up against the wall. You can take them off if you want to keep it that way.

I bought this on amazon for one price (around Black Friday), and later they lowered it significantly. Keep an eye on the price, because it fluctuates a lot.

I have four children and we have many Melissa & Doug toys at our house. All of the various M&D playthings we own have been very sturdy, high quality toys at a great price, especially compared to other wooden toys, like from the Hearthsong and Magic Cabin catalogs.

Unfortunately, this particular M&D dollhouse which Santa brought for Christmas today is a bit of a disappointment compared to what we've come to expect from this company. It's simply not very well made. We followed the assembly instructions to the letter, so this is definitely a quality problem and not an assembly issue.

The pieces of the dollhouse fit together loosely and come apart when you try to move the dollhouse. This is especially true of the top floor, which comes off very easily. The doll furniture is cheaply glued together and one chair already came apart. The balconies that attach to the front of the dollhouse don't fit right and so they jiggle when you touch them instead of staying affixed as they should. The dollhouse appears to be made of rather flimsy laminate wood or particle board and isn't as sturdy and thick as the Melissa & Doug castle and barn that we already have.

It's hard to imagine that this dollhouse will really hold up to active play. My husband says he envisions using a lot of wood glue over time to try to keep the thing held together. I really can't recommend this dollhouse, especially compared to other Melissa & Doug items. Go for something sturdier.

This is a fun and attractive dollhouse that my kids have loved for two+ years -so much that they recently pooled their own money to buy a second identical one! I just finished assembling it and thought I'd report back to you while they move into the new neighborhood with their dolls.

In a world of branded, mass-marketed plastic junk, I appreciate this house's all-wooden construction and the calm, realistic, traditional architecture. The interior spaces are spare and make a good canvas for a child's imagination. There's flexibility in arranging the interior staircases, and the plain wooden walls can be left bare or decorated with art or wallpaper, or even painted (I'd advise before assembly). The exterior is cheerful, with an attractive mansard roof, dormers & balconies. The house comes with a full set of chunky wooden furniture that's well-suited for smaller kids. Amazon of course offers an excellent price and rapid shipping.

Assembly is simple and fast. ADVICE: Assembly step #8 asks you to join the corners of the roof using two plastic clips. But the mansard roof contains some complex angles, and if the roof panels do not fit perfectly, then the clips simply do not engage. This leaves you with an unfixed roof that could easily loosen. My first build worked okay, but in today's second build the roof panels were slightly off and the roof clips did not engage.

I solved the problem this way. If in Step 7 you have the slightest problem getting the roof panels to fit perfectly, you will be better off (a) to avoid Step 8 and (b) to modify Step 7. Instead of friction-fitting the pegs in Step 7, I used gel Super Glue to secure the plastic pegs permanently in the holes, and a bead of Titebond at the wood-wood junctions. (Gorilla Glue would also work, but use it carefully.) I just threw away the plastic clips and skipped Step 8 entirely.

My other advice: In steps 1, 3, and 6 keep the hex bolts LOOSE until the panel edges are seated within the grooves. The fit is tight and you'll appreciate being able to wobble the joints to get the edges to pop into the grooves. Once they've popped in, then go ahead and tighten, and the force of the bolts will pull the joint together nicely.

I have purchased Melissa & Doug toys many times, but this Multi-level Wooden dollhouse is a piece of manufactured garbage. Two days before my daughters birthday, we put it together, but two screws don't fit (because the threads inside of the adjacent pieces are perpendicular to the correct direction they should be going and the "clips" that fasten the roof together don't even fit and are so cheaply made the roof would probably crash down on my little girl while she played (and she is pretty gentle with her toys). Do not buy this toy, ESPECIALLY for this kind of money. You will be completely disappointed.

We bought this dollhouse from a local toy store on sale half off. It is super cute, pink and purple. I have to say, the furniture is pretty terrible. It stays together but it is just really ugly. You will probably want to buy new furniture. Here is where my problem came in. I read a previous review saying the dollhouse is "NOT 1:12 scale, and is 1:24 scale" Sadly i took this review to heart and registered my girls Christmas wish lists full of 1:24 scale furniture. I just got it all, days before Christmas and it looks like a joke. Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it. Please ignore the previous reviewer and avoid the mistake I made :-(

My daughter is 4 and saw the commercial a while back and almost did a backflip. When we went to Target she saw the toy and grabbed it off the shelf screaming. I had promised that when we found it we would buy it so we brought it home, it was only 19.99 which was less than I was expecting to pay.

Turns out that you don't get the two middle cars with the set and they cost significantly extra.

However it is still a hit and maybe we'll get the other cars for the next holiday.

Pros:

If you're buying it for a dedicated fan of My Little Pony, it's a fun addition to a kid's toy set. Even though my boy gets bored with the train set fairly quickly, he does turn it on frequently and play with it for a few minutes at a time. So it draws him in repeatedly, and he was quite excited when I first gave it to him.

The set is easy to put together, and it can be reconfigured quickly. The separate pieces of the track hold together well (the set is sturdy enough for some pretty boisterous play), but the pieces aren't so tightly fitted that it is at all difficult to get them apart. The train also stays on the track well, unless it receives a fairly hefty nudge.

The motor of the train stops with the slightest amount of resistance, which makes it quite safe. If your child's hair were to get caught in the wheels, for example, the train wouldn't go much farther before stopping. I can't see this toy causing any kind of injury, even minor--unless a part of it were swallowed, of course. And there's only one part of the toy that seems small enough that it could present a choking hazard: there's a hood ornament on the front of the engine that could easily be bitten off, but it can also be cut off with a knife or a pair of scissors, which would remove the danger and wouldn't negatively affect the train's appearance.

Cons:

Batteries are not included, so you'll have to provide them. Running time on 2 Duracell AAs is approximately 4 hours with the train actually going around the track repeatedly (as opposed to being ON but not actually RUNNING), with the provided pony in the engine and an additional pony (not included with the set) in the caboose.

There is some minor cosmetic assembly that has to be done when you first open the box: there are about 16 stickers that have to be fixed to the plastic pieces of the track and the train, and the outlines where the stickers are supposed to go do not leave much room for error. You have to get those stickers pretty much exactly centered in the little divets where they're supposed to go, or they won't fit properly. Unless you have an older child or one who is very precise and detail-oriented, this is a task that is probably better performed by an adult. (If you care about the stickers being applied straight, that is.)

This con is not something I would have noticed, and honestly isn't something I care about, but my boy was most emphatic about this, so I figure it's important to pass along. Apparently the enclosed pony could be more appropriate. Pinkie Pie (and incidentally, the Pinkie Pie included in this set is the exact same pony you get if you purchase her individually, with the possible exception of this one's hair being wound a bit tighter) would, according to my boy, "probably run the train off the track" because she has a bit of a flighty personality. His recommendations of more appropriate ponies are either Fluttershy, because many of the stickers on this train set depict animals, or Applejack, who has a bit of Rosie the Riveter about her.

I'm not sure how well this toy set will hold up over time, but given its limited functionality, I don't think it will hold my boy's interest for too long anyway. It's a nice little set, but unless you have a child who wants anyand everything Pony-related and/or has a specific affinity for toy train sets, I'm not sure I'd particularly recommend it.

This is a well made train set. The train and tracks are sturdy and it was bigger than I thought it would be. The tracks go together in various formations and it's easy for little hands to set up. The packing was a bit over done lots of little elastic bits that needed to be cut off, but little set up after that. It does not come with batteries. Be prepared for a little disappointment. Quite a few items shown on the picture of the box are not actually in the box. It does read on the box that these are accessories and are not included, but your little one is going to expect them to be in the actual set.

Point of View of the Almost 4-year-old:

My daughter is not a girly girl when it comes to toys. She loves cars, boats, planes, etc. Barbie doesn't stand a chance, though she does like Barbie's dog. Though a bit disappointed at the girly colors (she prefers red), she loved the train. Although she liked that it came with one pony, she prefers to use it to cart around her other small animal toys. The train is easy to turn on and off without my help and her hands handle the tracks with ease. I spent all last night and much of this morning playing with this one with her and she shows no sign of tiring of it. It's a winner in her book!

My five-year-old son picked out this toy because he absolutely loves trains and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. While many of the MLP toys are very fashion obsessed/"girly" cliche obsessed, this toy wasn't. The train, car, track, and dolls are durable and sturdy, and he loves playing with the sets and acting out his favorite scenes from the show and making his own. The only downsides to the toy are the thirty or so minutes you'll spend attaching the parts and sticking on the stickers (which is the most time consuming), and the cardboard train station (I don't see it lasting longer than a month). If Habro puts out new track sets this toy would be all the better; the tracks make a decent size run, but when my son wants to focus on the train aspect (building and creating new and huge runs, make believing he's a little conductor and etc.), he'll still be turning to his Thomas tracks.

I like the bed. It's cute. My 6 year old likes it for her doll. It's sturdy (huge plus as I have a 10 month old). It would be nice if it came with blankets (the pink bedding on the bed in the picture is a thin mattress with attached pillow). It would also be nice if the ladder had some ridges or attachment piece to attach it to the bed. The ladder just leans up against the bed (but considering no doll would actually need to climb the ladder, if it falls over or gets lost, the bed will still work). Overall, I would recommend it.

I'm so glad I bought this as opposed to the almost $150 + bunk bed at AG!!! It assembled easily, is very sturdy, and my 8 yr old twins love it! The only issues are the ladder not being attached (but they don't use it anyways), & the bedding is pretty thin (but clearly they don't need it for comfort!). Neither of the issues warrant taking away any stars, since it really doesn't affect my overall opinion of the bed. I highly recommend this bunk bed!!!

My daughter also saw this toy on TV and wanted it. Although I normally don't buy what I consider "frivolous" toys, I decided that she could get one. I actually purchased 2, because they are supposed to "talk" to each other. I went online and printed out the instructions that were missing from the packaging (which actually helps alot). You have to take out the factory installed temporary batteries and replace them with AAAs.

We followed the instructions on how to make them dance to play a couple of games with them. And it was not entertaining nor exciting. The toys move ever so slightly in the water so you really have to pay attention to how they are moving (if you are playing one of the games). The communication with each other isn't that exciting either. So they move and dance and make noise like they do with everything else.

She played with these for a few minutes and they have sat on the shelf ever since. I think she likes they way they look more than playing the games with them.

*ADDITIONAL COMMENT: After having these toys since Easter, the water is starting to evaporate in the toy. It is almost below the top most part of the rabbit's ears.

My daughter got this for her 6th birthday, and this quickly became one of her favorite toys. I'm not sure why it just plays two songs and the little bunny jiggles a bit as it dances. It has been 6 months now, and she still plays with it every couple of days, and has added a mini one to her collection. I probably would be more upset with the lack of features if they were more expensive (get me started on the Fijits).

I like it because it's something I can use to wake her up for school, and it usually is greeted with a smile instead of a scowl. I just push the button a couple of times so the music plays, and eventually my daughter rolls over to grab it and push the button herself. By the time her eyes have actually focused on it, I know we can tell her to get up and get ready.
