I have never purchased a Corolle doll before so I can't compare. I can only judge the doll I received. The doll has weight to it because of the material it is made out of and really does appear to be solidly constructed. Yes, the doll is not hard plastic, but it is not floppy rubber either. (The material "gives" but you must exert a fair amount of pressure for it to do so.) Because of the material I think it could stand a great deal of wear and tear in the hands of a 4 year old child. The wig is thick, of good quality and the clothing is well conceived and very well constructed (no loose threads, sloppy seams, or flimsy material to be found) and the company used velcro so there are no buttons to pop off or zippers to snag. No, the eyes do not close, but the doll has so much personality I don't see this as a flaw. In fact, she seems worthy of her own tv show or book--the sculpt being that unique and well rendered. I think the doll will be big among adult collectors for this very reason. And then of course, there are the added bonuses of the soft, appealing scent characteristic (I am told) of all Corolle dolls and the doll's wholesome appearance. No suggestive dress or face makeup to send dubious messages! Overall, the doll left me with a very, very good impression of Corolle. Also, it is worth noting I have not seen a better price for the doll than at Amazon.

My daughters have always enjoyed Corelle dolls. We have several baby dolls and three Les Cheries. Now my youngest is old enough for a Les Cheries doll and so ordered this new version for her birthday. I am very disappointed in the changes they have made! The dolls used to be made of a harder plastic material, but now she is too soft for a doll this size. In addition, the other Les Cheries Dolls have eyes that close and my daughter was VERY disappointed that this doll does not have that feature. Their prices have remained the same, but it seems that they are cutting corners and lowering the quality of their dolls. So sad.
