Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Dollhouses, or playsets as the smaller ones are often called, are a big hit with young girls. They are one of those timeless toys that girls have loved throughout the ages and continue to love with each generation. The Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Playset isn't a large, classic dollhouse, but it does have the qualities of a small playhouse and girls are bound to love itparticularly those who like Barbie, which is most all girls of elementary school age.
We welcomed this playset into our house because, even though my girls already own far too many playsets and dollhouses, I knew they would like this one due to the Barbie theme and Mariposa theme. They love the Mariposa movie so I knew they would fall in love with this playset the moment I opened the box.
My prediction was true, as my little princesses thought it was perfect. But judging from an adult's perspective, there were some qualities I immediately questioned. One is the tea set accessories. They are very small and seem like they are just waiting to be lost. Yes, the playset does fold up to keep these accessories safely inside, but I still do not see them remaining with the set for very long. I also noticed that the chandelier falls off too easily. It doesn't snap securely in place and the slightest nudge knocks it to the ground.
The above strikes are easy enough to forgive, but probably my greatest concern is the cardboard construction. The outside of the playset and certain other parts are made from plastic, but other parts are made from cardboard. With construction like that, I question the playset's durability. I can't see it lasting very long unless my girls are very careful.
Girls love Barbie and most any Barbie fan is sure to love the Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Playset. I don't like the cardboard and the tiny pieces, but I do agree with others who have shared how their little girls love this toy. My girls love it too and when all factors are considered, there is enough good to give this toy a small recommendation.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Playset is PERFECT for your little Princess, Barbie Fan or Girlie Girl! This Fairy Wonderland has Barbie written ALL over it! It's pink and purple with a chandelier and I don't think it could get any more glitzy! There are tea cups and butterflies...oh, and not to mention a beautiful bed! So, if your little girl loves Barbie, this is yet another toy from Mattel that will NOT disappoint!I know that there are many complaints about this one being made with cardboard and plastic. But, the plastic is quite heavy and you have to remember that one of the key features of this set is that it can be folded up and stored away in a closet or where ever you'd like. That way you don't have all these little pieces laying around. PLUS, if it's anything like our house, you have SO many Barbie items already out, like the HUGE Barbie Dream House, that it really is nice to be able to store a couple things away after play! I personally Thank You, Mattel for giving me at least a few that don't always have to be on display. But, if you do choose to display this item, it's cute open or closed. Closed, it looks like a big sparkly butterfly and when you're ready for play, you open it up and it's a magical fairy house for Mariposa Barbie. BTW, if you were lucky enough to get the doll to go with The Fairy Princess Playset, it's a perfect match! They also have the new Mariposa DVD out! I picked up the other two and they are absolutely adorable! If you're thinking Christmas or a birthday, I highly recommend ALL three products!
There really aren't any Barbie products that I don't recommend. I love Barbie! I loved her growing up and I love her now! This set is a winner any way you look at it!

To accompany it, I purchased a Barbie Mariposa and the associated DVD and gave them to her as a collective birthday gift. Wow! She was thrilled. After initially setting up the playset for her, she took control and told me and her parents how things were supposed to be done. She's three years old and so she's right at the entry age for the toy. That said, I think that some of the parts are probably a bit small and will either get lost quickly or will end up getting eaten by the dog. Of course, there's the distinct possibility she'll put them in her mouth as well.Barbie apparently enjoys her fairy princess playset or so my niece tells me she does.
I got a big hug and the nice thing was she was occupied for quite some time with this toy.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess Playset is based on the animated movie by the same name. This royal castle is a two story living space collapsible into an easily transportable butterfly case. The castle is basically cardboard with a plastic frame. I got this to go with the Barbie Fairytale Royal Doll Giftset, but the royal castle is much smaller than the dolls so they aren't really compatible except for the theme.This is one of those things that will quickly become "part of the Barbie ecosystem" in your house if your kid(s) play with Barbies. It doesn't stand out as a favorite in my house but its portability makes it fun for carrying to and fro. My biggest issue with this Playset is the scale. A larger Playset would have accommodated the Fairytale dolls. If your child is really into Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess then this is probably going to be a lot of fun. If your child simply likes Barbies then you might want to consider some other Barbie accessories.
