Not sure why this is priced significantly lower than the other two dolls (Daniela and Alexis) in the LIV "Spa" series; but the doll itself appears to be well-made and a good buy. There's no need to purchase the separate spa playset: this has all the basics a young girl needs to experiment with make-up effects (nail polish, eyeliner, blusher, lipstick and hair color change) for one doll (i.e. they are built-in and cannot be transferred to another LIV doll).

Since the color change is entirely temperature-sensitive, rather than fiddling with near-frozen water (which seems to yield inconsistent results and can be a little messy, as one earlier reviewer noted), simply place the doll in the freezer for about a minute or so. Either way the effects are temporary and revert to normal fairly quickly when the doll is returned to regular room temperature -perhaps a little *too* quickly. The best, most long-lasting effects are probably achieved with the doll being played with outside during the winter snow and/or in colder climates. I'd imagine it is similar for the other two dolls in this series.

This edition of Sophie also comes with a dress, a spa robe, hairbrush, a pair of blue-framed eyeglasses (not shown), a little sample "craft-kit" of sorts where you can make additional accessories (such as a tote bag or slippers) and shoes. The included clothing seems at least fairly-designed for playline, if a little short (Sophie does have white painted-on underpants). The shoes are well-made, stylish pink high heels that unlike some Barbie shoes should not fall off accidentally and get lost.

With the minor differences of a few narrow pink (blue) highlights in her hair, the automatic cosmetic spa effects and the included clothing outfits, the Sophie doll included in this set appears to be the same as Liv Making Waves Sophie or Liv After School Cool Sophie. Her hair wig is interchangeable with other LIV doll wigs (not included); and unlike Liv Doll Dancing Sophie (which some have given negative reviews) she has excellent articulation points for superior poseability. The special spa effects notwithstanding, it is worth getting this just for the doll. They would make great gifts for holiday toy drives or to help introduce a young girl to the LIV World. I recently bought one for a friend's niece.

This Liv doll has hair, nails, and makeup that all change color. She is waterproof as well. This is a cool gift for any girl who loves her dolls to accessorize.
