Purchased on pre-order along with the castle and family members, I am now wiser and will never purchase without waiting for product reviews first. Everything in this line is horribly made, falls apart and does not work properly. Reading the reviews now, I see that it's not just a fluke, but all of them are made this way and we have all wasted our money.
The carrige set is a pain to put togther (which is fine if it stays together) however, the wings fall off at the slightest movement and do not stay snapped on. The reins don't stay attached to the carriage, and one can imagine a 4 year old trying to "fly" her pegasus coach around only to have it fall apart into pieces. I see we will spend countless hours putting it all back together so she can have 30 seconds of play time. I so want to return everything in this line, but my daughter is in love with the idea of it all and can't bear to let it go to buy something nice. "Please, Mommy, I'll use my imagination!" I only wish my family didn't spend $100 on her imagination because we could have gotten something else of quality instead.
Do yourself a favor and skip this whole set unless you want to watch your money go down the drain!

Directions were very clear for securing the horse to the carriage. The sounds from the carriage are nice and soft, and not annoying. The seatbelts make it a little tricky to get the dolls in and out without popping their heads off. My girls naturally grab them by the head/upper body to get them out, and there goes another head. My 5 yr old loves her sophia the first toys. I'm not impressed with the quality but that doesn't matter much to her ;) Many of the pieces are "rubbery" and fall out so the pegasus rarly stays attached. The straps to keep the dolls in the carriage are tight and difficult for her to close on her own. Wings fall off a lot. Sofia the First is newest in a long line of Disney Jr popular cartoons. It seems like that Disney is able to (annually) roll out new cartoons Jake and the Neverland Pirates (2011), Doc McStuffins (2012), and Sofia the First in 2013. I am not sure if Sofia will have the broad appeal of both Jake and Doc McStuffins (which both boys and girls seem to love), but Sofia is definitely a hit with my 3 year old daughter.
The Sofia the First Royal Coach was a toy that our 3 year old daughter was excited to play with since it combines three of her favorite things Sofia, Princesses, and Horses. While she did play with it initially she did lose interest after about 10 minutes... this worries me about it long term playability!
Notes-
Assembly Not to bad, the only real assembly is placing the harness of the flying horse. It is not too difficult but the directions definitely help.
Sound Only makes one sound it isn't too loud which is great since there isn't a volume control
Carriage Rolls easily and there is no problem connecting it to the flying horse. Our biggest complaint is that the seat belts are a bit cumbersome to use little hand may have difficult putting the figures in the carriage and strapping them in.
Figures remember no figures are included in the Royal Coach Playset which is a bit disappointing since the box shows pictures of both Sofia and Amber
Batteries uses three pen/hearing aid style batteries (which are included)
Final Verdict The Sofia the First Royal Coach is toy that my daughter enjoys I ultimately worry about its staying power. It is somewhat disappointing that it does not come with any figures (for this price point) but if you buy a separate figure and the coach it does make a nice stand along toy (even if you do not have the Sofia the First Magical Talking Castle). I am giving it 4 stars... but I could make a case for only giving it three stars (especially at the listed price).
