Purchased this doll for my 3yr old niece for Christmas. We had seen the doll in the retail store but chose Amazon due to the competative pricing and shipping options (we live in different states). This doll was an instant hit and my niece hasn't put it down since she opened the box. Great toy, adorable & durable.

I am disappointed with this doll. Even though she looks so pretty in the package, upon opening you find her hair is less than acceptable. The dolls hair is so thin you can see the bald head of the doll and how its painted red. The stitched in hair is so sparse I even called customer service to complain. The pictures even make her hair look thick but my daughter even asked why Ariel's head was red. If I had known I defintely would have bought something else. I purchased this as a gift for a flower girl in my wedding. The product is exactly as described but I think it may have been opened at one time? The doll's hair is slightly messed up and stuck in the packaging, but it's not too big of a deal. My 3 1/2 year old is somewhat princess-obsessed and her latest favorite is Ariel. She also loves playing with dolls, so this is going to be a great Christmas gift. I don't mind that it is not a mermaid (and I don't think she will either)....mermaids just don't make as good dolls, and Ariel 'dreamed' of having legs, so I think it's fine the way it is. The doll is a nice size, and the hair is beautiful, so I think this doll would be a nice addition to any doll collection, even if you weren't a Little Mermaid fan. I bought it at walmart though for much cheaper than is currently listed here. It was twenty two dollars there....edited to add: I ended up finding the same doll before Christmas at kohls for $15 after coupon, so I returned to first one to Walmart. And my daughter does love it! She plays with it every day and brushes her hair and puts her to bed at night. I am considering getting the similar style Cinderella doll for her birthday.
