There are many budget version Lagoona dolls to choose from, but I think this version of Lagoona is one of the best. Lagoona has long blond hair with sky blue streaks. Her hair is held in place by a coral colored octopus tentacle head band. The tentacle theme is repeated on her over sized turquoise sunglasses.
All of the Swim Class dolls have some plastic trim detailing on their swim suits. Lagoona's suit has coral colored plastic trim on the neckline and around the legs. Her suit has a swirling paisley pattern with a turquoise and coral off the shoulder polka dot ruffle. Her beach towel is the same pattern as her swim suit. Her other accessories include a turquoise clam shell bag with pearl and seahorse details. She is wearing coral colored high heeled flip flops.
Lagoona has her usual leg fins and webbed fingers. This budget doll does not come with a doll stand.

The Monster High Swim Class line is one of those lines that offers just enough eye candy to draw you in, but leaves you feeling a tad bit deflated.First the obvious: this is the THIRD bathing suit series from Monster High in two years. Surely they CAN'T be running out of ideas yet! They could do a career based theme, monsters as their favorite movie star theme, or my personal favorite idea: monsters dressed as OTHER monsters for Halloween! BUT another swimsuit theme? *YAWN*
The good news is that there are only three dolls in this basic doll line.
Now the less obvious, but EQUALLY important: recycled molds and moldy ideas! Lagoona's shoes are nearly identical to her original release shoes, except for the color! Lagoona was given another pair of oversized sunglasses, reminiscent of that fashion pack with huge, magnifying pink sunglasses, and yet another head wrap, which is made of molded plastic this time around.
There are redeeming qualities about the doll though: they have given her a fresh, natty paisley print swimsuit, with a matching towel. I just wish the towel had a printed backside, or some trim....just something seems lacking with it. But what can one expect from a doll that retails for $12.99? She carries an adorable shell shaped, functional bag that goes GREAT with her other outfits, and her swimsuit has vinyl leg cuffs that are simply chic! The whole ensemble just screams "1970's!" while managing to look fresh and new at the same time.
I am not loving the color sheme of her face up. They chose a shade of lip color to match the pinks used in the outfit that leaves something lacking overall. They should have stuck to Lagoona's colors used in the Skull Shores line (where Lagoona is looking her finest). It IS nice to see her with STRAIGHT HAIR for a change, though. (Even ghouls can use a flat iron or relaxer!)
She has her fun, articulated, and durable body, and in spite of sounding critical of the doll, I WOULD recommend her! My criticism is aimed more at Mattel, as they are becoming complacent in churning out products that COULD be great, but are just good (take a look at Barbie sometime: most of her outfits have cute fronts, but plain backs that don't exactly match!). With so much competition in the fashion doll market, they can't afford to lose their edge! Brand loyalty can only carry them so far. As always, I recommend this doll for ghouls aged 9 and older due to theme, and complexity of parts and dressing/redressing.

My Lagoona came with nice smooth straight hair. I am no expert but this is the first one I have with no curls or hard to comb style. Her bathing suit is adorable.Honest reviews on Monster High Lagoona Blue Swim Doll
My daughter loves these MH dolls, and I love the fact that they aren't perfect little "Barbies" with unrealistic beauty and bodies. I bought several of these for my daughter's 10th birthday. One of the coolest things about these dolls is the flexibility and mobility of their limbs. All the joints are movable, so you can really put them in any pose. Their fashion accessories are also very stylish!
As my daughter says, they are cool because they are not 'human' and each have their individual characteristics which you can learn about in the shows/DVDs/books. And they are all different with unique body features and outfits.
Lagoona Blue has fins on her legs, and webbed fingers. The swim doll comes with a matching towel, sunglasses, and bag--and of course the killer shoes!
