We got this dollhouse on sale which it seems to do on regular intervals. Compared to other gender neutral dollhouses this one is an amazing dollhouse for the price. I don't mind seeing it sitting in my livingroom one bit. It's very easy for the kids to play with: four little kids can all play at once without getting in each other's way. And it's durable. In several months of daily play, it seems like it will hold up for a good long time. We were extremely expressed with the amount of furniture and accessories that come with the house even a rubber duckie! I didn't think the roof change would be kid friendly but my 3 year old can do it without help. I get lots of positive comments from friends that come and play and have a couple Hape products on my kids' Christmas list because we're very happy with this one. My two year old tends to take furniture and dolls out of the house, play next to it and then put them back and change it up unless she is playing with other kids.
My kids: 2 & 3-1/2. Kids who come and play 1-1/2 to 6-1/2. Kids yonger than 18 months don't show any interest. We don't have friends older than 6-1/2 so I don't know where the upper limit is. This dollhouse will definitely be "cool" as long as kids will play dollhouse for, though.
Pros:
Durable, Easy to Set Up, Lots of Furnitire & Accessories, pleasant to look at for both adults & children.
Cons:
This really should include a flight of stairs for each level. My 3 year old has picked up on this quirk during play and will make his people jump between the level without the stairs. Add another flight of stairs and this is a solid five star product. I considered making it 5 stars even with this feature missing.
Not specifically about this product so I didn't include it in my star rating: The Hape people that are sold seperately seem to be moderately durable. The hair is showing wear after a few months and I suspect they won't stand as well after some time. They are good but not great. I wish we had looked into other peoples instead of just settling on the ones that went with the house.
Bottom line:
If you want a gender neutral dollhouse, get this house. You won't be sorry.

We bought one for our 3 year old for Christmas and I just finished putting it together. I had the same issue as another buyer, with misaligned drilling. I almost gave up b/c I bought this thinking it would be an heirloom item and it just looked cheap with spaces between the "floor" and edge of the house since nothing would line up. It took a lot of manipulating the "beams" and floor pieces but I was able to get everything put together properly. It looks really nice and I'm still excited about it, but I now wish I had gone a different route. I really wanted something that could be passed down generations and I'm not sure this is going to cut it. It seems like the hex screws will need repeated tightening and eventually they'll just turn and turn and it won't be a solid product. Considering re-enforcing the house someway but not sure how. I know my little will love it (it really is fun) but for the money (I paid over one-sixty after tax) I expected better craftsmanship.Best Deals for Hape - All Season Doll House - Furnished Playset
I spend a very long time researching doll houses before settling on this one. Though it is one of the better deals due to the fact that it has enough furniture to be functional (so you can buy up more over time), it falls short in other areas. First off, the wood pieces didn't line up properly so some of the pieces are at an angle. Not a huge deal unless you are a perfectionist in which case, it will drive you crazy. Not that well made either. I'm sure it will last through my daughter, but I doubt it will hold up to pass along.Also, it is a bit smaller than I expected. Good if you have a smaller space, but not great for more than one kid at a time to play. My biggest criticism is that there is no set of stairs to get from the kitchen/tv room to the bedroom. My daughter is 2 and has picked up on this and keeps asking me why the dolls have to jump to get to the mommy-room. My last note as to why I gave it 2 stars is that it could have more rooms. Not really enough space to fill up with some of the other fun stuff Hape sells.

As others have stated, this is hard to assemble.It is worth the price and is very large but the quality control isn't the best so all of the holes aren't drilled in quite the right spots. With some things that wouldn't be a problem, but this is designed in such a way that it causes it to be very difficult to get together.
I am very good at putting things together (I'm an engineer by day), and it took me about an hour to get this fully assembled and I had to use a few different tools.
For me, the floors wouldn't go in the slots right because the holes on the wooden pieces were off by a few millimeters. And since they are only off by a tiny bit, it would be almost impossible to redrill them without breaking it.
But the wood is of good quality, and like I said, it is very large. It is a fun toy, and my kids love it. I would probably buy one again, but I dont think I would recommend any of my friends buy one.
