My newly 4 year old daughter had a mermaid themed birthday party this year, and I bought the DISNEY SHIMMER PRINCESS ARIEL doll as a cake decoration. My wee one loves Ariel, and I wanted a doll that would both look pretty on the cake, and be something my daughter could play with afterwards. The DISNEY SHIMMER PRINCESS ARIEL doll fits the bill perfectly.

The DISNEY SHIMMER PRINCESS ARIEL doll is basically a "Barbie Doll" that looks like Ariel. She comes with a sparkly mermaid princess outfit, complete with a tiara and a wand that converts in to a ring for little hands. The mermaid outfit comes off (she has legs underneath), and other outfits are available, so this Ariel doll can turn into a human princess, too. Of course, in my little one's eyes, the best part is being able to change Ariel's clothes over and over again.

As for the cake, it was shaped like a scallop shell. We wrapped Ariel's bottom ½ in plastic (sans the clothes), buried her in the cake up to her waist, and drew on an icing tail. The cake looked fantastic, and was the hit of the party. My daughter was thrilled. The DISNEY SHIMMER PRINCESS ARIEL doll was very easy to clean off afterward, and is none the worse for the experience.

This is one of my child's favorite birthday gifts this year. And mom will have special memories of this special day because of the DISNEY SHIMMER PRINCESS ARIEL doll.

Ariel is my daughter's favorite princess, so this was an obvious choice. I wanted her to be able to undress her and change out the outfits, but the box does not clearly state if her mermaid fin can be removed to reveal "real" legs. She does have legs, so she can turn into a human for your child to play with! Yeah!

Well, there is no educational value to having this doll. It probably fills the children's head with a lot of vanity, but it's Ariel the little Mermaid, so it is a lot of fun.
