I had been looking online for dollhouses for my 2 1/2 year old for a while when the grandparents bought this. I don't think I could be happier with the choice, especially compared with others I have seen and researched.
First, the overall size. There's ample room for playing, but it's not too big that my daughter has trouble reaching any part of it, and it doesn't take up too much floor space. It's two levels 4 rooms and a balcony. Other than the interior room dividers, the only external wall is the front. The other sides are open, so it's very easy even for my husband and I to reach into. The design leaves a space in the roof to be used as a handle, making it easy to move around, and again the size and weight keep it from being cumbersome. Even pregnant with our second child, I can very easily pick it up with one hand.
Grandpa put it together, and said it was not bad at all. Granted, he has put together a lot of toys and is an engineer, but he will be the first to let you know if the instructions or design suck. The frame is wooden, which I love, and screwed together. Plastic is all good and well for some things, but not for everything, and the quality of many toys has deteriorated over the years because of it. This house feels very sturdy. The floors and walls or some kind of composite pressboard or something with the scenes painted on. These feel quite sturdy as well. As long as no one steps on it somehow, or puts all their weight on it, I see no reason for it to warp, sag, or otherwise give in. The two roof panels simply rest on top, and can be removed for even more accessibility during play, which my daughter loves. She prefers to take the roof off most of the time, and she can both remove and replace it by herself.
Accessories. This is one of my favorite parts. Most of the houses I looked at came with little or no furniture. At best you maybe got one room, and would have to buy the rest. Sets that came well or fully furnished were very expensive, well more than they were worth in my opinion. This one, however, came with furniture for all four rooms, at a very reasonable price. And the pieces were nicer, cuter, and of better quality than most to boot. The bathtub and potty are the only plastic pieces, and they are good, hard plastic. I don't see them warping or bending ever. Everything else is wooden. It's sturdy, well-made, and painted a variety of colors. The couch even has a padded seat, and the bed a soft mattress and pillows. I was honestly shocked to see that.
Dolls. I really love the dolls. They're not skinny like barbie, or bulbous, or strange. They're nice, modest, normal looking little dolls, quite old-fashioned even. They have a solid wooden torso and head, with some sort of bendable wire for arms and legs. You can easily bend them to sit, and then back straight to stand or lie down. And they will stand if you straighten them out. The clothing is also simple pants and shirt. They're wonderful. They're just people. I do wish it had come with a child maybe, so it'd be more of a family. But for $20 you can buy a set of the same people that includes two adults, two grandparents, two children, and a baby. Not a bad deal, and you could make just about any family scenario out of that.
So, yeah, I really like this dollhouse. I have no complaints. My daughter loves it, and has played with it everyday for hours since she got it. The grandparents had it set up at their house when we went to visit, and as soon as she saw it, she didn't take a single step further into their house. She immediately stopped and was glued to it. You could get one of the bigger models, but I can't see the need, especially if you don't have a really good place to put something like that. This is more than adequate, and I can easily see her getting years of use out of it, as well as our second child.

I just got this dollhouse for my 3.5 year-old daughter. She loves it! It's the perfect size for her age, and it's actually bigger than I anticipated. I had no problem assembling it by myself (it took about 30 minutes, and the directions were simple to follow). I love the fact that the front of the house is adorable too, and that it came with the furniture and two dolls. I chose this dollhouse because I wanted to be able to move it easily from room to room so she could play while I'm home (I work out of my home), and thus far it suits my needs perfectly. The roof removes easily for better access to the rooms, and the handle at the top makes it very portable. Overall, for the money this was an excellent buy. I'm sure she will have hours of play with this house!
