This is as lovely a Barbie doll as any I've seen. The fact that some of the proceeds go to support breast cancer research is a bonus and a very lovely one at that, helping to protect the health of future women-to-be. If you or your daughter love pink, this is the Barbie for you!

Many people do not know that Barbie Creator Ruth Handler was a breast cancer survivor. She also invented one of the first comfortable breast prostheses! For years, many in the Collector Community have been asking for this doll. It took way too long to get her, but it was well worth the wait. She actually has a real hair-do instead of masses of fly away tresses. the gown is tasteful . Mattel took pains to make her appealing to adults instead of teensy kids.

This is a beautiful doll. I have asked for her for my birthday or Christmas. Yes, she is perfect from her blond hair to the beautiful pink gown. I also feel that this Barbie will be a great conversation starter with my two daughters. To the woman who posted under the name "softservegirl", I understand what you are trying to say, however there is a reason that there is a bumper sticker out there that says, "I want to be Barbie, that +++++ has everything!" Dressed in the attire that she is, I would guess that Barbie gave quite a sizeable donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation and that she has been invited to a ball that is being held to help further raise money and awareness about breast cancer. Please understand "softservegirl", that you are not alone in feeling the pain you do, however my grandmother had breast cancer and also lost a breast because of it. I was 8 years old when I first noticed that my grandmother was "different". She gently explained things to me and I felt admiration for her and still do today. I would not have felt the same way had she taken a Barbie and cut off its boob. Barbie is not being portrayed as a breast cancer survivor because the reality of what this disease does would be very painful for children to try and grasp; and the side affects of chemotherapy also would be horrifying to most children. Instead Barbie is a symbol of a cause and a tool to be used to be able to start warning our daughters at an earlier age. My grandmother gave me the best gift of all. She showed me that you need to live life to the fullest and that we need to move on and get past the pain in our lives so that we can love and be loved. Ok, maybe you feel breast cancer took something away from you, but at least you're still alive and you can do something positive.

Honest reviews on Barbie Collector Pink Ribbon Barbie Doll

I lost my mother from breast cancer when I was 13. Since then there have been 8 women in my family die from the disease. I had both of my breasts removed 16 years ago and if I had not made that choice I would not have lived a year. Get over yourself and think positive. You are alive and there is a wonderful world out there. I don't have time for negatives. Every day is a bonus and should not be wasted. This pink Barbie is gorgeous and the money being donated to Susan Komen for the purchase of each doll will help with research. We aren't all gorgeous, no, but it is fun to dream even at my age. I have this doll and the black Barbie too and they are a reminder to me that I am alive and so fortunate.
