I bought these for my daughter who is 4 (will be 5 in may 2013), but she didn't really care for them. She had asked for some skates for Christmas, but I think these were a bit too kiddish for her. She doesn't know how to skate at all, but I think the idea of them (locking, adjusting etc) seemed too babyish for her. Her 2 yr old sister loved them! She will be 3 in Jan of 2013. She struggles a bit more with them, but they are the most exciting things for her. My 4 yr old wears a size 9 and my 2 yr old wears a size 8 so they both have plenty of room.

If you are expecting a high end skate, you are obviously looking at the wrong product. But, this is exactly what it was advertised to be. This is not the sort of skate where you could push someone and they will roll for a long distance. But, that's perfect for a small child.

It fits well over my daughters shoes, she can pull them on with little help, and the roll control is awesome.

At first we set it to not roll, so she just walked with them. That was a PERFECT way to get her comfortable with them. Then quickly we set them to roll, and she enjoys them.

We also got a pair for her cousin, so they can enjoy skating together.

I like this because the kids definitely get excited about roller skating. However, they grow out of them very quickly. Since shoes have to be worn with this, it make it difficult sometimes to get their foot in.

I purchased these skates for my daughter who just turned 3. She has not previously seen anyone skating, I just thought it would be something she would enjoy doing. She is very active and loves being outside. I did a little research and found that in-line skates are better for using outside as opposed to regular skates that are better for rink skating.

My daughter was very excited when the package arrived and we immediately put them on. She happened to receive matching knee and elbow pads as a Christmas gift last year. She was able to walk on them without a problem. However, I didn't have a pair of skates to demonstrate how to use them. There were not any other kids around to show her. We watched some YouTube videos so that she could see how its done. We then went outside to skate. She seemed to have an idea of what to do, but every time she tried, she started to fall. After a couple of falls, she was afraid to try without my holding her hand.

I think we will wait a while before using these again. It may be okay for a child her age if there is an older sibling to teach her.
