My daughter wanted an american girl doll and refused to spend the money. And santa does not bring expensive toys. So she got this one and she loves it she calls it her AMerican girl doll, but she knows it isnt the real thing. I think it is well made and the clothes are very nice. I dont know what would happen if we took the braides out but hopefully my daughter wont want to do that. You cant beat the price.
