My daughter used her allowance to purchase this doll. At 5 years old, this is the first time she cashed in her piggy bank money to buy something, so there was a lot riding on it. Overall, she LOVES the singing Ariel doll, and that she can transform her from a mermaid to a princess -without mommy's help no less (so I'm thrilled she can work it herself to transform Ariel from fishy to fabulous).
The only real disappointment is that Ariel has no legs. From the pictures, I assumed she had plastic Barbie legs that were crammed into a mermaid tail. Remove the tail, pull down the pink skirt, and there's your Princess Ariel.
Instead, Ariel has a plastic square base. When you pull the pink skirt, the mermaid tail is pulled up inside her base and the skirt lowers to cover what would be her leg area. My daughter was hoping to be able to dress her in Barbie clothes. That situation aside, my daughter adores this doll and has been singing along with her.

My daughter received this doll for her birthday and clearly another reviewer cannot read instructions not once, but TWICE. There is a black piece of plastic that must be removed from the bottom of the tail in order for the dress to go up and down, and when the tail is pulled to reveal the whole fin, she sings and she sings again when you pull her dress down. It's all in the instructions my FIVE year old could figure out! Sheesh! My daughter received this doll as a birthday present. The pink dress didnt pull down. Sooooo i returned it, got a new one and guess what? The dress doesnt pull down. In addition, the package states that she "sings 2 songs". She doesnt "sing any songs". She sings about 3 seconds (im not exaggerating) of 2 songs. I bought it as an early Christmas gift for my daughter she loves Little Mermaid.Thank you so much for boxing it so good it all looks like I bought it at the store.
