I have a 3 year old obsessed with princesses. She received this set as a gift and loved it. She loved it so much in fact that she took it to day care for show and tell the second day she had it and brought prince Eric home in 2 pieces. Apparently the plastic connecting his torso to his legs isn't real strong. Another kid twisted him and he broke in half.
In response, I ended up buying my daughter another set which she played with for a couple days and then forgot about.
If you know a little girl into princesses, this would make a good gift. Just be aware of the durability.

So this was actually a toy but small enough that we were able to use it as a cake topper. Our daughter gave us specific instructions that she wanted an ariel party and that the cake had to have her on it with a prince. So she was ever so delighted to see us fullfill her order but they were bride and groom. It just does not get any better than that for her. She was thrilled. Then she was even happier to get to keep them and play with them with her polly pockets. They are a tad bit bigger than polly pockets though. Great buy

One of the things my three-year-old daughter loves about this is dressing and undressing Ariel. Unfortunately, she cannot do this herself so she constantly asks me to do it. The doll's wrists are bent in such a way that putting them through the sleeves on the dress is nearly impossible, even for an adult. I cut the long sleeves off to make it a short sleeve dress, and this made it easier to put it on and take it off. The second day we had it, my daughter tried to dress the doll and tore the back of the dress (nowhere near where I had cut it, so it wasn't due to my modifications). Overall, I would not recommend purchasing this toy because it's too difficult for children and adults to dress the doll and the dress tears easily. My child really likes it, but I don't think it's worth the price or the anguish.
