This Barbie has gaudier makeup than most, including tattoos on the legs. The accessories are also more than usually cheap the seaming is visible on the necklaces and bracelets, and the "silver" items have "I'm going to chip" written all over them. However, the legs are the "clicky" poseable type (the arms are not).
The dresses do work as advertised. They tint when they get wet. There are three ways included to do this. The one that works the best is the "paintbrush," which has a clever push button that lets water onto the bristles. I thought the button would be too hard for my 4-year-old, but she handled it fine.
The stencil and spritz bottle also work well, but this was trickier for my daughter to use, so she ignored it. The small stamps had two problems they could be easily ripped off the wands (two of them didn't make it through the first day, though they glued back on) and without exactly the right amount of water, the shape became a blob.
None of this mattered to my 4-year-old though, and coloring the dresses kept her occupied a long time. The colors on the dresses stay visible for about an hour before they dry to nearly-white on their own. If you have a child who wants to start over, 2 minutes with a hairdryer does the trick.
Overall, if you're looking for a Barbie, this is a middle-of-the-pack choice. It's uglier than most, and between the tattoos, extremely short dress, ridiculously large earrings, and OMG platform heels, it's a little more cringe-worthy for someone who's on the fence about Barbie in general. But the water gimmick is a neat option that works as advertised and makes a very minimal mess, and the inclusion of a second outfit is nice at this price level.

My daughter loves, loves, loves this Barbie. She loves anything involving water play, art and Barbie so this one almost made her hyperventilate. The hair on this Barbie is also better and easier to brush than others received recently. An extra dress was included which added to the delight of the evening. The included foam wands, brush, and spritzer container with stencils provided enough entertainment to hold my four-year-old daughter's interest for an unprecedented amount of time. Other Barbie dolls have been begged for only to be purchased and then discarded sans clothes on the floor of her bedroom but this one has something extra. Would make a great gift and I wish I had purchased more when they were almost half price.

My five year-old daughter has this Barbie and it is one of her favorites, mostly because she can play with water to "design" her Barbie. It is nice that the package comes with more than one outfit to decorate with water, so you can have longer play time before waiting for the dresses to dry. The dresses are mostly white, and they kind of remind me of "AquaDoodle" material (Aquadoodle Classic Mat), except that the dress has a rainbow of colors hidden underneath. There are also different tools you can use to decorate the dresses (sponge stamps, stencils, tiny spray bottle, or wet paintbrush where the handle refills with water for constant painting). I like the decorating options because they use water, so there isn't a big mess when your child is finished playing. This Barbie does come decorated with silver tattoos on her legs and body, and some of her accessories are rather flashy. Some might question the appropriateness of this Barbie's styling but the water dresses make it so much fun and in the end this was a great toy for our daughter.

Out of all my daughters christmas presents she hasnt put this doll down. I would highly recommend it if you know a little girl who loves barbies:)
