If you think you like Dell, you'll like her even more when you get to see the doll in person. Whoever designed these dolls for Playmates Toys knew what he or she was doing. The makers opted to give a certain translucence to the vinyl for this doll that gives the complexion an added feeling of realism. Add to that good depth and pigmentation in the acrylic eyes, soft painting of the features and a face sculpt that is usually reserved for high priced dolls (compare these to the cookie cutter looks of American Girl dolls) and you have an even better value. Some have criticized the dolls for not having ball joints, but there again, these dolls are not, by contrast, stiff and incapable of motion. While ball joints are a great feature for a doll to have, here the head can be tilted nicely, and the arms and legs can trace a wide arc, allowing for more expressive poses. They are much smaller than AG dolls and of course, aren't as heavy, but even their smaller size seems appropriate. The company's ties to charity are an added bonus, as is the fact that these dolls are not suggestive in any way, making them an intelligent choice for an appreciative child. I bought this doll after reading about the product line on the company website, happy that finally there's a doll contributing to the people of Appalachia, and after seeing this particular model at a popular store chain (for a higher price). I am VERY pleased with this little girl! She's much prettier than the photos indicate, and that ball cap in the package partially conceals one of her most attractive features--her hair. Her hair is rooted, thick, wavy, and very easy to style and brush. A child would really enjoy this feature. The vinyl is lovely and smooth, and has a more life-like feel than many dolls available now. Her eyes are amazing, with depth, realistic color and detail, and well-placed to avoid that blank stare that so many dolls have. The clothing is well made and fits exactly right. I've spent a lot more money for a lot less value than this doll, and I may buy the rest in the current line soon. I highly recommend this doll, as either a toy for a lucky child or as a lovely doll for a collection.

My daughter begged me for an American Girl doll, after customizing one online. I couldn't spend $100 on one, and when I saw this doll, I knew she was perfect. She looks more like my daughter than any doll I've ever seen custom-made to match a child. The doll is well made very real looking compared to other ones marketed for children.

While they're not "American" girls, they reflect a bigger world. They truly do represent cultures better with more authentic looking features and outfits. I love their tie-in to World Vision (known for caring for children worldwide). Every doll purchased donates to a needy child around the world. And what a nice value for what you receive the doll, a story, a bracelet for your child, and a code to the Hearts 4 hearts website, where you can play games, create a page through their site, and even read updated virtual diary pages about your doll.

Unfortunately there are not many outfits yet, but the ones that they have are very cute. They are also alot more toned-down from some of the Bratz/ Moxie girl style outfits that force our children to grow up to fast. This is definitely a doll you want to look into.

I had never seen this line of dolls before and was looking for something sweet and innocent for my 5 year old granddaughter who lives in Nashville. There are tons of dolls out, fashion Barbies, Bratz, this new line of monster high school dolls and etc. I don't want her encouraged to grow up too fast and wanted something sweet and precious. Dell is perfect. Her skin has a healthy peach/pink human look to it and her clothing is what you'd expect on young girls in the summer. I found her in Target for about $4.00 more than Amazon, she was right next to the Madame Alexander and American Girl dolls. She is a bit smaller than these two lines of dolls, but I think much prettier. The Madame's dolls had dark ashen almost grey faces, and did not look healthy or innocent. Dell was just what I was looking for. This is one of those times when Amazon had the best price and shipped direct to my granddaughter.
