My daughter's friend just got this for her birthday. It was hard to put together. If you are going to buy this for christmas, I would take it out of the box and assemble it before christmas. I know some girls love the specfic barbie themes or movies but the house is just not that functional. The house is not deep and the dolls are so large it is hard to play with more then one at a time. If 2 girls each have a barbie and are trying to play on the top floor the house could tip. The elevator on the side does not work as smooth as in the commerical. I got my daughter a wooden barbie house. It is not as decorative as this one but it is sturdy and has depth so 6 babrie could be in one room and multiple kids can play with it. I had a local handyman build the house and it cost less then the retail price of this house and it has held up well and is way more fun for the girls to play with. I would recommend looking into a wood or more sturdy house(or one that is deeper or has larger rooms at least) if it is affordable for you to spend the extra. If you do buy this house, I say spend time assembling it beforehand, and play with it on the floor in case it tips over(if this fell from a table I would question if it would still be usuable).

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter who is obsessed with all things Barbie. For the sale price of 34.99 it can't be beat! The quality is what you'd expect with a plastic palace but in no way do I believe it's just going to fall apart the minute she plays with it! I've set up a Barbie on the spinning dance floor and she stays in the little footholds while spinning. The elevator is not as smooth as the commercial but I'm confident in thinking that the commercial was enhanced with computer graphics as the Barbies don't produce magical stars from their bodies while spinning either. Try not to be too disappointed about the magical stars..

The elevator does it's jobtakes Barbie up and down.

To sum up it's a great product for the price and be assured I'm writing about the proper product.

Just got done struggling to assemble this toy. Had the quality not been so poor, it wouldn't have been a problem. Can't believe with an original price tag of over $100 that the walls would be constructed of cardboard. There are tiny pegs that are supposed to secure the walls but they don't fit securely and they keep popping out. Cardboard walls don't fit well into the grooves and the edges come apart when you attempt to make them fit in. Many of the pegs are missing. The factory applied stickers on the drawbridge/door are badly bubbled. My daughter hasn't even used it yet and it's falling apart. Worst Barbie product I've owned so far.

For the price that I paid (35) it's an OK toy. It's not very big, it's not very well put together. It's made from fairly cheap plastic with thin, cardboard walls. The window frame on ours had come apart; I stuck it back together. There are tiny plastic pins that hold the cardboard walls onto the framing I found most of these rolling around in the box and stuck them back in.

It looks a lot better in the pictures; it's just sort of blah when you get it together. My daughter likes it, and plays with it (she especially likes making the dancers fly off the stage.) All in all, it's not bad, it's just not great. If you're paying more than 33% of the full price then you're paying too much.

*Update* We've now had this palace for a week. All of the plastic pins that hold the cardboard walls have come off. I glued it back together the best I could. I had to remove the dance stage, take it apart, and glue one of the spinners back on. Seriously, look elsewhere. If you're looking for something that will get passed on to younger siblings, or friends' kids, or that will last more than a couple months, get something else.

This palace was pretty easy to put together as Barbie stuff goes. However, the interior walls are made of cardboard paper and are not sturdy at all! The pegs holding said cardboard together started popping out as soon as it was out of the box. Tried to put them back in, no dice! I had to tape them back in and still they wouldn't stay. I don't see this lasting very long. Not work it for the price. Doesn't come with much furnishings either.
