Mosi was originally to represent the Navajo nation but was changed to represent ALL the First Nation's Peoples and is a most BEAUTIFUL representative too :)
Mosi's boots and (hair)-feather slightly differ from the prototype photo yet do not detract from her overall appearance. The (hair)-feather is still blue but of a plastic design while her boots are a singular brown with design rather than the two-toned shown.
Mosi's family lives a sheep ranch just outside Sante Fe, New Mexico. Her father tends the sheep and her mother is a potter who desires to keep the art of their culture alive. Mosi's grandmother shares the old stories with her and teaches her how to make baskets and spin yarn from wool. Learning to walk "two paths" isn't always easy but IS interesting! Mosi, like the other hearts for hearts dolls is a beautiful doll that encourages love and compassion for girls from around the world. I love how part of the proceeds goes to helping improvised girls (World Vision). The website also teaches my daughter about different cultures & how much she has to be thankful for. My "Mosi" (the new Native American Girl from Hearts 4 Hearts Dolls) is well made. I have six of the other H4H dolls and find her comparable.The boots (said to be a typical Native American wear) are a little stiff at first. You might have to get a dad or parent to get them loosened up so they're easier to take on and off.
I see on the Hearts 4 Hearts Facebook page that a lady who runs a sewing blog has already posted a free pattern including a red blouse and full skirt along with simulated "silver" jewelry which also is what some Native Americans of the Southwest wear.
(I don't have the honor to be Native American, but the costume generally looks like some Southwest Native American wear I've seen. It's not the formal costumes, tho I imagine some Native American nation will develop a wonderful formal costume.)
I also like that some $ from the doll's purchase price will go to World Vision'swork in that area (New Mexico area ) to help children there.
