This was my daughters "must have" gift last birthday. She's a huge princess fan and I knew she'd love the doll, as she has other Princess and Me dolls and loves changing their clothes, wearing the matching child/doll outfits and playing with them.
However, as soon as we took it out of the box, I realized, like other reviewers, that the hair was going to be a nightmare. It's different than any other doll w/long hair that she has and was a tangly mess within the first hour. She was so disappointed because I know she had visions of combing and braiding and styling...nope, not gonna happen with this doll.
My daughter is AA and has very curly hair I am extremely well versed in caring for/detangling/etc curly hair. I even tried using a bit of my daughter's hair products w/a very wide tooth comb and a pick and couldn't get Rapunzel looking decent.
My daughter still loves her, still plays and sleeps with her but is constantly lamenting the fact that we keep her hair in a thick braid 99% of the time.
For a doll whose selling point, whose whole theme of her story is her hair, someone really dropped the ball on this one. :(

As a collector, this gorgeous doll is a great addition. I originally purchased her for my 5 year old granddaughter, but after receiving her, and looking her over, esp. the hair, I am having doubts. I can see the hair ruined in a short time. I think she is highly collectible, I plan to purchase more dolls from the Disney Princess and Me Collection. I will hold on to them and pass them on to my granddaughter, when she can appreciate them. These are truly beautiful dolls, but the clothing is, in my opinion, not "play" quality. My daughter handed down her Original Pleasant Company "Molly" doll to her and that is a doll that has withstood years of dress up and hair brushing! This was the only toy my little girl wanted for Christmas. She has never been a "doll" girl and has always preferred stuffed animals. I was excited that she wanted something different, so we got the doll for Christmas along with the Princess and Me clothes.In the process of buying the doll I learned that Toys R Us doesn't consider the doll to be part of the Princess and Me Collection and therefor she doesn't qualify for any of the "free" items with purchase that they may be offering. The other PM dolls come with a certificate and an royal invitation and Rapunzel doesn't. I'm not sure what this invitation is inviting the child to do because Rapunzel doesn't come with one! Her packaging is totally different from the PM dolls. None of the clothes in the PM line are labeled "Rapunzel" but they do fit her. However she does have the PM stamp on her foot denoting that she IS a Princess and Me. It makes no sense and I wish someone at Jakks Toys would realize what they have done here!
With in moments of getting the doll out of the box we realized that all that hair, as fun as it looks, was going to be a problem! I didn't find the hair to be such a bother as the two other reviews listed. Being a Barbie doll collector, I thought the hair felt very much like Barbie's hair, just 10 times as much of it! We looked at a picture of Rapunzel on line and braided the dolls hair in a similar way, using a flower pony tail holder to keep it together. We even found the stand of dark hair underneath and braided it so that it was featured. My daughter has played with the doll non-stop and the hair hasn't been a problem since we braided it. Yes, the hair is heavy, but I assumed it would be given that there is so much of it! If you want a doll with more manageable, but still long blonde hair, get Aurora instead!
In case you are wondering about what clothes you can get for this doll since there isn't a "Rapunzel" line currently, here is what I suggest: First off, you should note that the PM dolls have a plastic body with slightly curvy dimensions. They don't fit into American Girl doll or My Generation clothes perfectly. The clothes fit, but they will be a bit loose especially at the shoulders and waist. I got my daughter the Disney Princess & Me Royal Sleepwear Outfit for Ariel since it had a purple robe and Rapunzel is in purple. I got the Disney Princess & Me Ballet Doll Outfit and Toe Shoes Aurora in pale pink because it was the most generic looking of ballet dresses in that it was just a pink tutu. It wasn't obvious that it belonged to any particular princess. And I got Disney Princess and Me Belle Holiday Gown and Cape as it is the only other dress currently in this line. The winter dress is very well made and simply beautiful!
I'm thrilled with the doll and with the details on her dress and her face. She's the prettiest of all the PM dolls, in my opinion. It just sad that they don't list her as an "official" PM.

This doll is beautiful and it comes with shoes that are just plain cloth and also a pair of gold earrings that look like peals and a shines gold crown that she wears in the movie her dress is net exactly movie accurate but I guess it's fine for the detail her hair is very long and it comes with a brown piece of hair that you would know if you watched the movie over all this doll is fun detailed and interactive I recommend this doll to audiences over 6 years of age because of the hair getting ruend and the earrings getting swallowed:)Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Disney Tangled Rapunzel Doll -- 18''
I was so disappointed with this doll. It is not like Barbie hair. The hair was a mess the day we got it.
