Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This originally was going to be a present for a little girl I know, but it has been such a hit at the office that we are keeping it here. By and large, this toy is what it looks like -a remote controlled car, but a very pinked up one. It's pink and purple, with a pink My Little Pony, and even the noises it makes are a little bit "girlier" than you'd usually hear from a remote controlled car.

The pluses on this?

* The noises can be TURNED OFF. If all electronic children's toys had this feature, the world would be a happier place.

* It has enough power and maneuverability to work just fine on firm carpets.

* While the car is made to hold other My Little Pony toys, all sorts of small toys can work.

* The range on the remote is a good 20-25 feet.

* The color scheme has gone far enough past hideous to actually be kind of awesome.

There are a few frustrations that would keep me from buying 10 of these to give as gifts to everyone I know:

* It eats batteries like crazy. The remote control takes two AAs (which it comes with), and the car takes three AAs (which it does NOT come with, despite the product description). Even if you turn the car off between uses, it still goes through batteries quickly.

* Even most RC cars for young children have remotes with buttons that allow for left/right and forward/back. This one only allows for going forward and turning in one direction. Combine that with the fact that the "straight" is much more of a curve, and navigation becomes complicated. When a child just wants to make it Go! Go fast! Go fast and turn around and around! It works just fine. But if they are trying to make it go some place in particular -even straight across a room, much less around an obstacle course of toys -it can be a lot more frustrating.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First of all I want to say how amazed I am that My Little Pony toys are still popular and relevant. They were a mainstay of my child's toy box (she is now 17) and my little niece loves them just as much. My niece is going on 4 (in December). She likes all the My Little Pony toys so I thought she would really, really like this.

Out of the box: There are the usual ties to the cardboard insert as with any toy. At least these weren't those pesky wire ties though..they were of a jute material that cut really easily. The car itself needed to have 3 Double A batteries installed but the remote's 2 Double A batteries were included. There is an ON/OFF switch located on the car in order to save your battery power. Anyone who has young kids knows 95% of the time that button isn't getting switched off at the end of play however so I would love to see an "automatic off" after a certain amount of time (say 20 minutes) feature on these toys. As the adult, I operated the Pony car first. The RC remote is pretty standard. It has one button for forward and one button to REVERSE AND TURN...yup. There is no steering only button option. So, you can run the car straight forward easily but if you want to turn you have to stop and reverse in the direction you now want to go. As an adult with more patience than I would imagine an under 5 year old would have, I found this irritating. I got bored after about 3 minutes and just started to let the Pony drive the car into the walls. Then I let my niece try. This is a girl who has been using an Ipad and manipulating the APPs since she was 3. She liked it at first. She seemed to have some trouble pushing the buttons down hard enough with her little tiny thumbs. She played with it as it was intended for about 6 minutes...then got bored and started running it into the walls and whatever furniture she could. That aspect of it seemed to entertain her but made me run for the spackling paste. She seemed to like it more without the remote...just running the car where she wanted it to go by hand. I don't know if that is good for the mechanics of it but it saved my walls. :)

The range of the remote seems to only be 20 feet maximum and that is when the remote is being pointed straight at the car. The car makes sound effects as well but you can turn them off if you find them irritating.

If you have a nice My Little Pony collection already I would say this is an OK toy to add to it...I don't know the extent of their current toy line but I would definitely look to see if there is something easier for the intended age group to control first....like a manually moved car. And, make sure they don't run the toy on thick carpet or in dirt outside as the fibers and dirt would definitely mess up the mechanics.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm an older fan of the My Little Pony series, having watched both the original series as well as the modern re-imagining. I love them all. So when Vine had this pop up in my selection, my inner six year old demanded that I get it. (The adult in me wondered how amazon discovered my MLP addiction.)

I've got two ways I'm going to be reviewing this. First the fun, secondly the quality.

Fun-wise, kids are going to love this. It's My Little Pony in a car they can control. What's not to love?

Quality-wise, there are more than a few issues that I had with this. When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was a lack of a brush for the pony's hair. As anyone who ever played with dolls can tell you, doll hair gets tangled quicklyespecially if it's long & this is some long pony hair. On that note I'd also like to say that you'll have to be extra careful to tuck all that hair into the car in order to avoid any unfortunate mishaps. The second thing I noticed was that Pinkie Pie only had a cutie mark on one side. Not sure if this was just my doll, but it's just irritating to see a lack of detail. I was also irritated that the voice on the remote control wasn't the voice actress for PP. So far these are all small nitpicky problems that kids won't really care about, but adult collectors will probably get a little disappointed with.

These were small problems, but what really bothered me were the reports of the cars running on one frequency as well as the issues I had with battery life. This thing EATS batteries. I highly recommend getting rechargable batteries for thisyou'll need them. I also had issues keeping the doll in the car. The doll will stay in the car as long as it's level & not being shaken about, but kids will roughhouse with this & the doll falls out of the car very easily.

Where the car wins is with durability. I was deliberately rough with it, yet the car didn't fall apart or stop running. This toy will take a licking.

Basically the only people I see getting really irritated with this product are the adult collectors as well as people who plan on buying more than one for their kids. Otherwise this is an incredibly fun car to play with (I almost hated to hand it over to my niece) & something that I know will please your young ones.

Honest reviews on My Little Pony Pinkie Pie's Remote Control Vehicle

I have two girls, ages 6 and 4. They are so close in age that we buy multiples of many of there toys so they can play together. Like most RC cars we figured there would be a channel 1 and 2 so that they could race and such but there is not. Since are house is not that big they can only play with one at a time or else both cars are "taken over" by a single remote when they get within about 15 feet of each other.

We got two of these cars for my twin girls for their 5th birthday. One remote controls both cars... even if they are in different rooms in the house. Normally that long of a range on an inexpensive RC car is awesome, but in this case, it's just frustrating. The car is adorable and seems durable enough, but I had to rate it low because it's impossible for my girls to enjoy theirs at the same time.
