i got the mermaid build a monster thinking it would be a great one to add. it was and it wasn't. the piece are crap. the paint is pilling off them, and the parts barley fit the upper arms to the doll. along with the parts barley fitting, the wig doesn't work at all. it's to high on the dool's head and it's curly at all.( i had to create my own wig, i found string that looks like seaweed and it work out great). the parts are still hard to put into the doll. once it's put together, it is a nice looking monster high doll.

This add-on pack is gorgeous, the wig is super cute, and the tail and parts are beautifully done, I have been waiting for this and need it for my lil ghoul.

I Know that it's almost Christmas time and everyone is going to want this, but please do NOT pay this much for it, when this is in stores(and it will be soon), it will be about $11 to $16 dollars.

First, let me explain I am an adult collector. I used to collect as many as I could get my hands on but lately due to finances I have to be very particular as to what I add to my collection. Having been a collector of monster high (and I take them out of the box to examine the quality and details) I have a good idea of comparison to what has come before these sets. I actually have a BIG issues with the new cam sets.

First I loved the idea of the harpy as I always remember the harpy from the old movie "Jason and the Argonauts" (the stop motion harpies were awesome to me), but I hate the fact that her limb colors differ so much. Her legs are a lavender color where her arms and hands are a very dark purple. If you are like me and like to try and match a torso as closely to the add on pack as possible, this screws things up royally. In addition to that, the wings are so heavy they limit posing. You can't lift the arms up as they force the arm to fall back down to the sides On top of the heavy issue, the position the wings are permanently molded into limits poses that don't look broken. By that I mean when the wings don't block the face in a pose, the anatomical position of the arms (unless they are at her sides) look like she has taken a long fall off a building and broken her arms at the elbows. It doesn't look right. I have a hard time getting her to have a "wave" without it looking morbid. So at the moment her arms just hang down at her sides looking lifeless.

When it came to the Siren I was even more disappointed to the point I sold her straight off. The one cool thing I will say is that they made the fin so that it will work with the boy cam sets (if you look at the directions that's what the blue belt is for). But my torsos were so loose in the fin it was ridiculous. None of the female torsos would really and securely fit in the fin. I feel bad for any child playing with this set as it fell apart in my hands easily when just trying to get a good pose. The torso ends up rocking back and forth in the fin and it is ANNOYING. When it comes to the sirens arms, I am really disappointed they went the paint route. After inserting them into the torso gently, the paint already started to chip away (not a great choice for a toy that you are supposed to pull apart again and again).

The wigs are just bad again. The clear wig band is annoying as all heck. The sirens wig was ratty (not curly) right out of the package, though I was surprised at the softness on the harpy wig. I have never had any issues getting the wigs to sit low enough on the heads like others (you just have to press at the top of the wig till it sits nice and low in its peg hole). I still end up using LIV wigs as they are much better in quality and fit (I use my knife to gently scrape the CAM wig hole and make it big enough for the LIV Wig. It takes less than a min)

I do love the harpy face design though and think its the best cam face design since the three eyed ghoul, whereas the siren is very bland and generic in its sculpt. Ultimately these sets had a lot of potential that were ruined by bad design choices.

Honest reviews on Monster High Create-A-Monster Add-On Siren Accessory Parts

Please note: This is an add-on accessory pack and you will need Create-A-Monster Starter Set to have all the pieces necessary for a complete doll (torso and upper arms).

The Siren CAM pack is a real departure from the other CAM's. The tail is unique and has a joint by the bottom fin that bends to allow a completed doll to stand on its own on this fin. She is very easy to put together, the joints on a torso snap directly into the tail. The tail is turquoise blue with hot pink fins. Her light blue forearms have pink fins, and so do her webbed fingers. Her head is very pale light blue, with purple eyes, and hot pink lips. She has the same ear style as the sea monster CAM girl.

For accessories, she has two belts (blue and pink) that nicely cover the transition between her waist and tail. The blue belt has an anchor and braided rope, and the pink belt has rope, scales and shells. Her wig is blue with pale yellow streaks.

The colors they used for this CAM are very bright, and quite Barbie-ish, but she is still enough of a monster to fit in with the ghouls.

I was able to purchase the Siren CAM at a retail store for $14.99. She is still a very new release as of this writing (12/12/12) and should be widely available soon.
